I listen to quite a lot of new modern music and I barely hear anything innovative that I expected to with all these modular innovative bits of kit .
Probably not for this thread but £€$10.00’s on a modular box full of modern tricks - where are all the recordings worth listening to. ?

Will find another thread to discuss.

Superbooth for me so far - in terms of something I’d actually buy … I’ll come back …

cuckoos shaved appearance is a highlight, otherwise nothing spectacular and I really don’t know why Elektron and TE won’t drop anything special… even tho its DT2 they could’ve waited to release it by today and create a headline but its quiet, which is lame.

This, the Supercritical Redshift 6, is my highlight so far. What a sound.
Why does it have to be an analog synth again that gets my vote…

I think we are now entering the backwards spiral of multi function digital synths until the computer and a DAW is the quintessential part of music making.

iam so glad that I’ve cured my modular GAS right before SB with the 104 TE of Pittsburgh Modular lifeforms functions…Double Helix in comparison with the Buchla 295t dual oscillator is more innovative and thought out differently…in that complex oscillator range.

most of the stuff and fx are obviously based on Emilies work on Clouds, Rings, Veils, Blinds, Streams, Marbles and such…
like every generative fx which emulates a tape with tapeheads feeding a Reverb. all that signature code base, spread all over the place. :()

the new keyboard on the Polybrute 12 is nice because its basically the overall impression I have with the K-Board Pro 4 in comparison with a classic keybed, where you have a lot of travel (no sound) trigger a sound and at least have some aftertouch with like 5mm of expressive range…Arturias approach can now detect the whole traveling of keys and applies the aftertouch range accordingly!

I miss the BIG news somehow, something revolutionary like pingpong modes on Elektron machines or other stuff that should be implemented and not wait until SB 25 because 3 more buttons on a rytm will lead to massive “changes” or a new iteration of things. DT2 is still just a DT. keep something coming when it’s time, now is the time.

Now this looks super cool!

i thought more about a possible syntakt update or something like that :space_invader:

I think the idea is to get in front of announcements from other companies. Elektron seem to have created more buzz and the product was ready to be shipped. If they waited to announce during the event, they are competing with far more news stories and money waiting to be spent. Seems like a solid business decision to me to announce early and book those orders.

This was a pretty quiet year so far, nothing crazy from the big companies, no big Roland/Korg reveal, and nothing crazy either from the small beloved boutique companies like TE/Elektron.

I wonder if we are going to see less and less hype stuff being revealed at these events like how the E3 slowly got less and less popular until completely cancelled.

My understanding is that Superbooth continues to garner a higher attendance with each year. Doesn’t indicate a direction towards cancellation. You’re not going to see the amount of hobbyists from all over the world in a Sonicstate video. Modular was very big this year, so was experimental hardware and controllers. With non-conventional hardware like microtonal instruments there was especially large interest from Asian markets.

New/crazy stuff is subjective opinion. For me this is far better than last year for comparison.

maybe it’s a clever move but if you have a whole family under your brand they should try to compete with anything by simply updating the firmware.

I mean if you look at the one-person synth manufacturers….especially “Silhouette” and “PolyPulse” they just incorporate OS updates even before the Units hit any market.

if you look at the functions of those it’s like nobody asked for it but it’s implemented with a lot of effort and I thought that by seeing the implementation of the X&Y recording behavior of the 5 performance pads…it’s a graphical representation of the movement but also a mirror on the actual controls.

it’s like with the Elektrons there’s no effort like this…for example…if you control any parameter via CC you can see the movement on that parameter but internally you wouldn’t notice the modulation…
all of this 10 year A4 thing is more like a reminder of things they never even tried to implement…

I don’t even know why there’s this story of Elektron can’t include new things because “shareholders” need their money on a safe route.

that’s why they need a new Unit to compensate the difference.
If they would partially try to open source the fx implementation or modulation section, people from around the world would show them how fast and stable things could be implemented, by one person only.

a bit more experimental stuff, please. :relieved:

it is so funny to see the same pictures and video being taken and posted by influencers and youtubers and by us normal people just music and gear lovers.

I love that people posts here so that we, at home, can see what’s been displayed at SB24
