Standalone Maschine+

Awesome! Glad it’s working for you. And yeah, I think the fact that it’s so old (2006) helps with CPU. It’s still really powerful.

Let me know if you do port that hologram ensemble - looks like fun.

Just wondering, has anyone tried using an SP404 Mk2 as an interface for the M+ on the most recent M+ OS version? If there’s a way to get it working in a stable way, that seems like it would be a super fun combination.

And apart from that, how is stability these days? I had one a year ago but it wasn’t very stable then. (Yes, I tried multiple high quality SD cards and tried all the standard troubleshooting tips, but would still randomly crash and glitch out sometimes). Despite the instability I really miss it in some ways.

I made an aux channel with raum in a group. I want to send my drums to it. But when i save it after reload its completly gone . Raum and the channel is there but in the ‘aux 1’ setup is turning back to default. Does somebody know what could be the problem?

Can you use this like tethered machine 3 when it’s hooked up to a computer?

It’s also nice that when used as a controller, it powers off just the USB cable.

Unfortunately that microcosm ensemble doesn’t work really well (engaging some buttons doesn’t do much). But I’ve mapped this little interesting ensemble. Waterlogged

“A simple effects plugin designed to give you an “underwater” sound!
Cuts down high-frequency content, introduces a tail effect, and can be used to subtly or not-so-subtly introduce stereo variation.”

It also has a tremolo and a 3band eq. Mapped and named all the knobs.

I don’t know how to make the effect ensembles show at a sound level. I’m only able to insert them in groups.

Can anybody, with a ton of Expansions and large user sample library, tell me what you’re using for storage please, that’s if you don’t keep losing the Expansions from the Browser when you fire it up?

I wasn’t having this issue until a few days ago and I suspect it’s because i’ve just added too many user samples to the micro sd card, or the card is failing. I’ve got about 150gb on a 512gb card and I added some a few days ago, probably just before this issue started.

Is it better to use a card, or perhaps use a USB thumb drive in one of the USB ports instead?

I have a 256gb card that is about 50% full and have had no issues. What card are you using?

Samsung Evo Select, but it’s a micro sd card using it’s supplied adapter.

Good to know though. What card are you using? I’m just trying to find something that might work, so I need brand and model of anything that might be more reliable.

Mine is an Integral Professional High Speed. It looks as if mine is quite a bit faster than the Evo Select. I read that card speed was important for stability which is why I bought it. I wonder if that has something to do with it.

Edit: Mine is 180/130 read/write, whereas yours is 100/90

Seems that a short in my usb hub damaged the m+.

Anyone seen this already ?

Thanks !

I’m really not surprised, there are many bugs related to USB, for example when I connect the VirusTI 2 in USB the Maschine+ reboot instantly, another example when I connect my audio interface (to extend the number of I/O) after a few minutes there is no more sound, you have to go back to the settings and re-select the interface, another example with the Elektron Boxes (Tested with Syntakt, Digitakt, Digitone) in USB class compliant mode are not recognized (neither MIDI nor audio)

Mine was 130 read and not sure the write speed, but it was painfully slow so might have been faulty. I was using it in a dashcam until I replaced that card with a pro endurance card, so maybe that’s what damaged it.

Appreciate the card info and i’ve just purchased the same model as yours.

Ouch, is it still under warranty or have you voided it with your confession?

Oh, that looks kinda weird.

Did you happen to create a midi loopback (midi in->midi out)?

I ask because I had this with my M+ when experimenting with midiloopbacks.

Does the problem persist after a reboot?

I would test the M+ without peripherals (no audio/midi connection). But you’ve probably already tried that.

fingers crossed :crossed_fingers:

A few updates ago that wasn’t the case, oddly I’ve been having strange effects with my USB devices on the M+ for a while now.

Example

My UltraLite MK5 did a good job on the M+, but recently I’ve noticed the same behavior as you described, the USB disconnect/reset. This happens sporadically, which worries me even more.

The next problem with the UltraLite MK5 is that I get weird audio errors. Sounds like a nasty digital bit reduction. But strangely it comes cyclically, sounds like a sine LFO on the main output.

No idea what the problem is, but my old Focusrite interface doesn’t have this problem.

Something went wrong.

Have you considered if you overload the usb ports of M+? They are usb2.0 which is 500mA max, and atleast some interfaces use more than 500mA from usb.

Unfortunately, I shorted the usb hub when trying to find the correct pin size for its external power. Wasn’t electrically plugged at this time, only connected to usb. I planned to check the polarity just after that. I should have made it the other way around…Lesson learned. I contacted Ni and the resseller. Waiting for replies…

Can someone who has owned a Mk3 and an M+ answer this - is the build quality substantially better on the M+?

I’ve heard the knobs at least are metal and higher quality - I’d consider upgrading mainly for better build quality and use it in controller mode, with the bonus of being able to mess around with it standalone.
