Standalone Maschine+

Thanks for the feedback. Is the cable as short as it looks?

Also do you need a special usb c cable to deliver 15v to that connector from the PD power bank?

Crikey. You buy half a used M+ for that, or maybe pay someone to mod a battery into it

I tried the Omni 20+ too, but it was expensive and heavy. The M+ is already heavey. Sticking a battery with velcro on the back is super elegant and acts as a stand too.
@Jigs yes it’s short, but it’s a IN->OUT cable. You’ll need a USBC-USBC cable. I usually had a short USBC cable from the battery to this adapter and then into Maschine.

Trust me you won’t regret it. Also Dieter (the guy who owns the site) is a super chap.

XTPower XT-20000 here. Works great and comes with correct cable. Bonus, also works with MPC One.

The XTPower XT-20000 doesn’t look to be available anymore, unfortunately.

Just spent a few minutes looking into the Omni 20+ after discovering they can be had a lot cheaper than list price and thinking that with the tradition plug socket input built in, albeit a US or EU version, I could just switch the adapter on the PSU that came with the M+ to the US/EU version. Unfortunately, it’s isn’t a pure sinewave AC socket, it’s stepped and that can introduce noise or possibly damage sensitive electronics, so it looks like a usb adapter will be needed with it, or barrel to barrel.

Purchased one anyway as it’ll come in useful on camping trips and travel. Just need to decide on the connector between powerbank and M+ now.

Yeah got mine pretty cheap, go for dc barrel connector, with additional converter you will have some loss of course

This is what I’m using (still available on Amazon):
XTPower XT-20000QC3 PowerBank Modern DC/USB Battery with 20100mAh - 5V USB incl. Quick Charge 3.0 - DC 12V to 24V for Laptops, Tablets, Samsung, iPhone, and More! https://a.co/d/2nK6oCZ

Not available on UK Amazon, at least that’s what the link is showing to me.

Just purchased this cable 15V 5A USB-C 3.1 PD to 5.5mm Barrel Jack Cable - 1.2m with E-Mark | The Pi Hut

The last MyVolt’s psu took about 2 weeks to arrive, so shopping from the EU seems to take longer these days and this is a UK seller. Will see how I get on once they both arrive. It’s PD but not sure if the Omni is, but hopefully the current switch is a set and leave if not. Appreciate all the links and info from all.

Been using the Omni 20+ and the cable I got from Pi Hut for over a hour since I got them both a couple of days ago. The Maschine+ looks to draw 15.2v and between 11-12 watts working on a project hitting up to 74% cpu.

Highly recommend both. Feel like i’m finally freed from the short psu supply shipped with the M+ that tethered me to working near a socket and i’m really pleased with the fit and quality of the Pi Hut cable which grips as well as a good quality connector should. I’d highly recommend it and reckon it’s a bargain for less than £11 delivered.

I am (very) late to the party too but I am blown away by this thing. Wow! I use it mainly with guitar and I’m very pleased with the sound and build quality.

What are your favorite extensions?

I like faded reels and motherboard.

I heard lots about about Faded Reels. Does it work well for non hip-hop stuff too?

Out of 30+ Expansions, Rhythm Source has 31 Groups saved and Mother Board has 29.

They’re far and away the most saves apart from Maschine itself (44). The next on the list has 10.

That said, I have such a massive pool of curated samples that i’ve been collecting or making since the 90s, that the Expansions rarely get a look in. They’re saved for a rainy day after demoing them once.

Does somebody use it with extarnal audio interface in standalone mode?
Is it working properly?
is it decrease the cpu useage?
maybe somebody tried it with Komplete Audio 6 MK2?

Oh yeah. It has a bunch of great synth sounds. I actually suck at producing hip hop, and you can use the sounds for anything.

The only thing is that the way the kits are curated, it’s sometimes too dialed in to the genre. I will swap out some of the pads or add a different kit to a new group to mix it up.

Especially the stabs.

I even use crate cuts in drum and bass even though it’s a lofi hip hop staple.

Even bourough chops is great for house music with the upright bass loops.

It depends on the interface, and the more I/O the bigger the CPU usage.

I used the komplete 6 and 10 mk1 and works without a problem. I would say same performance than with the onboard card, but I always use with an external card so… I now bought a apogee symphony and also works very well. SSL big six doesn’t work.
Using a card with more outs really adds to the M+, since you can do the summing outside of the Maschine.

Hmm, fired it up and my Expansions were missing. They slowly returned one by one after leaving it on for a while, but the favourites * tag that i’d used on the Expansions is missing.

My own favourites are still tagged.

Anyone know what’s happened?

Wondering if it’s a dodgy MicroSD card in it’s adapter while it seems to take much much longer than I would expect to add content to it? It’s a Samsung 512 Evo Select. Or maybe some problem with NI authorising periodically?

Hi there just got a brand new maschine i replaced the SD card and I see it gets detected show GB available but I would like to format it inside the unit. I don’t seem. to find this option
can somebody point me to this? Also, would it be the same just going into storage mode and then using disk utility on my computer to proceed to format the card in the recommended EXFAT format?
thanks a lot

Just tried. Wow, this offer some serious sound design possibilities and at low cpu impact. Thanks.

I want to try to port this microcosm hologram ensemble.
