Sonicware Lofi-12 XT

My bug was in relation to the tagging system. Basically user samples go missing (but retrieved by resetting the tags in the unit). Its recognised. One of the admins on the FB group confirmed its fixed and the FW will be out shortly.

is your interest in the xt mainly for audio sampling or midi?

Just audio sampling tbh

Ive sold off pretty much everything as we have an expensive side extension coming up. Just the Lofi-12 XT for the forseeable. I do dearly miss my Rossum SP1200 and Apollo 8 interface - the ultimate combo but needs must.

:100: Agree with everything you said, my EP-133 barely gets used too.

The KO as just a drum machine is good - its fast and instant groove…But no parameter locking etc makes it kind of useless other than for 2 bar instagram videos to show it off lol

Yeah it is an ok barebones unit, reminds me a bit of Volca sample with some +/-

I have no experience with the other Sonicware thing - the SampleTrk

But someone was saying they had implemented multi stem export on it…So it ‘shouldnt’ be too much an issue to implement that on the Lofi-12?

Just got one, what a fun device. Definitely a keeper. Sold a digitakt as I never really got along with the general workflow and non-portability in terms of sketching ideas. The Lofi-12 XT is way better for this use case IMO.

Mixtape actually works, and it makes it easy to render stems by just letting a pattern run while muting different parts and then cut it up in a daw.

So far I’ve not found a way of playing a single step (hold trig + yes in elektron boxes), maybe there isn’t one?

Also, is it possible to edit (or even see) the notes of a chord step? func + step only shows the first note from what I’ve seen.

Anyway, really happy with this box :sunglasses:

Go grab your update ladies and gentlemen Downloads – SONICWARE
A lot of my suggestions have been implemented. Yay. Marked them with :metal:t2:

What’s new in version 1.1

Improvements and Fixes to the SND features:

  • Pressing func + A knob now displays the sample slots, allowing for selecting a sample (push A knob or OK to apply, CLR to cancel). :metal:t2:
  • Adjusting func + B knob will now snap changes in pitch to semitone units.:metal:t2:
  • In the SLICE screen, the OK button can be used to create a slice point, and the D-pad left / right buttons can be used to select a slice point.:metal:t2:
  • Single-cycle waveforms are now displayed correctly.
  • Other minor problems including the MONO voice mode have been fixed and improved.

Improvements and Fixes to the Sample Assignment features into the Sample Slots:

  • The preview is no longer played continuously, but you can preview it again by pressing the D-pad left button.:metal:t2:
  • The TAG SEARCH displays the TAG icon and the name of the current folder.
  • The selection state for BROWSE / TAG SEARCH is now remembered along with the current folder.:metal:t2:
  • Fixed problems and enhanced the speed of the FILE NAME SEARCH.
  • Other minor problems including the FILE DATABASE have been fixed and improved.

Improvements and Fixes to the Patterns:

  • Selected pattern numbers now pop up in the PATTERN SELECT / SAVE screen.
  • Fixes and improvements have been made for pattern switching.
  • “Muting selected tracks at once” function has been eliminated, instead allowing track selection with func + TRACK PAD even in MUTE mode.
  • Fixed other minor sequencer-related problems (incl. Parameter locking, Swing, Transpose, Pressure parameters, Copy and clear track data).

Improvements and Fixes to the SONG features:

  • The PTN number and name will pop up when selecting a pattern in SONG EDIT (this will also pop up when switching patterns during playback).
  • SONG EDIT allows playback from a specific row number (move cursor and press PLAY).

Improvements and Fixes to MIX TAPE functions:

  • When the MIX TAPE is set to ENABLE, the TAPE icon is displayed, then lights up and animates during background recording (Speaker / Headphones / Internal Mic icons are no longer displayed).

does the XT have a reverse sample mode?
does the XT have a shift track sequence forward/backwards a step (was hoping page buttons could be utilised here…) ?
does the XT allow modulation of track FX (and master del/rev) parameters?
does the 2 LFOs have a S&H equivalent?
is batch track mute selection then one button release to switch track mutes possible? is a solo mode possible yet?

questions/questions/questions.

such good questions at that!!

does the XT have a reverse sample mode?

Discussions on Discord have talked about this being an oversight that will be added.

does the XT have a shift track sequence

Do you mean moving steps as a group? If so nothing like that exists.

forward/backwards a step (was hoping page buttons could be utilised here…) ?

Not following?

does the XT allow modulation of track FX (and master del/rev) parameters?

You can modulate send effects for reverb and delay.

does the 2 LFOs have a S&H equivalent?

S&H?

is batch track mute selection then one button release to switch track mutes possible?

This is unclear. Muting selected tracks at once” function has been eliminated, instead allowing track selection with func + TRACK PAD even in MUTE mode

is a solo mode possible yet?

I don’t think so.

Thanks for this. Going from latest manual so this is helpful.

Track selection during mute is important. I’d like to see batch mute still possible in maybe the mixer page.
Sample & Hold, there’s loads of funky LFO types, maybe one is what I’m thinking!
Was thinking FUNC plus page <> in a Rec mode to shift track steps backwards/forwards would be logical.
A sampler without reverse is a new one on me😬.
I can see the FX send amount is modulatable. Track FX parameter destination LFO control could be fun.

Also track lengths, are they totally variable to any integer, last step 15 or 3 etc? If not they should! Maybe combos of step length and track length get close?

A quarter tone scale would be cool too, the cents tuning seems quite refined so the scale options could be even more microtonal!?

Not hating, I want this, and the recent fw excitingly shows that the devs are listening and reacting quickly,

Is there anything particularly special / complementary in syncing / running a sampletrek and Lofi XT together?

quick question: can this play slices polyphonically as well? i’m a heavy user of chromatic sample chains and this would be very very useful for chords!

The slices are really well done.
They can be polyphonic within the sliced pads. But not polyphonically chromatic for each pad within the slice.
But you can create upto 4 choke groups within the slice which is cool. So you could set up separate notes for chords with this.
And mutes behave differently within a slice too, trigger based rather than mixer mutes.

I have come across fiddly issues with sliced files, even after saving a change in pitch or position can reset the file which can be frustratin. Not sure if bug or user faff yet.

Can confirm that I just got 8 hours out of the XT using these Eneloop Pros:

The usage was a kick, snare, hat, bass and chord pattern playing over and over. The speaker was on, but volume was turned down the whole time, not sure how much that affects power. It was actually still running at the 8 hour mark, but the battery indicator did have an exclamation point on it.

Also, the build quality is a lot better than expected. Yes it’s hard plastic, but it feels very compact/solid, nothing like the Liven Lofi 12.

It’s ridiculously fun and feature packed. $399? Friggen deal.

I got the same batteries. I used them a lot and I still have 3 bars.

Yeah it really does seem to be a non-issue. Especially if you buy the 12 pack and always have 6 fully charged. I mean, even 5-6 hours is longer than I’ll ever use it at one time.

hey, this invite is expired, can you generate a new one please? thanks in advance
