Smallest possible compressor with sidechain?

I actually own a mio2 so at the very least you give me hope I can just pop that between :).
I’m gonna try that out between them later. Whatever it takes I’m getting this setup to work as the nABC is quite nice!

go for it - I am curious about the results - I am using the latest firmware on mio4.

I love mine so much!

Stefano replied and let me know there will be a new firmware update later on (fixes so far: storing MIDI channel in preset, “glitch” issues in sound (very rarely but there))
also send him a diagram of my setup so we will see

Yep, he gave me the same response.
Seems like a great guy! I noticed the MIDI channel reset too, glad he’s already fixing it.

yes that’s true - ultra fast responsive (even on Sundays  )
he has a really good product

so updated to latest firmware 2.0.5 (beta and not ready) and can confirm:

glitches (so far) not happened
MIDI channel is correctly saved and loaded in presets (yessss!)

but the main problem having OT Midi OUT to nABC Midi IN --> no Midi signal or totally strange behaviour.

connecting the nABC Midi IN to Midi THRU of AH/AR/A4 all is working withouth issues. OT also here is Midi Master - just swapped the cables

Where are you getting the firmware updates?
I checked the website and didn’t see anything. Also, how do you know what firmware you are on? I assume I’m on the most recent stable as I just got it.

Also, when you say OT is master, are you sending cc data out of OT thru other box then to nABC?
The OT must be sending extra data thats messing with nABC

as I mentioned → BETA :open_mouth:

OT is clock and program change master. I stopped using CC since I found out:

I have tried both - with sending CC and without - directly connected no way. and other in between works.

also was thinking similiar but then all other in between must “filter” or “clean” the signal before it reaches the nABC which confuses me more

I just tested things out too:

OT to nABC = no good
OT to mio2 to nABC = works great!

I’m looking forward to the stable update but thankfully the mio2 solves the issue for now.
Also, mio2 was just sitting around and throwing it in the rig actually improves another aspect of cabling so it all kinda works out for right now.

jepp - same conclusions after several tests.

I am in contact with Stefano and so we are trying to figure things out.
I’ll keep you up-to-date if you would like

I’d rather stop double stop!
I’d like to have an OTO Boum. nABC seems very interesting too!

Yes please, I’ve offered him my help too, I’ll keep an ear out.

There is a post from me here on the forum where I side chain compress ar and a4

Also with hand drawn schematic

Biggest helper is a passive modular module that splits audio tracks so the audio signal is split into audio signal and side chain compression signal which just ducks

And I think i also had a kick channel separately going into a mixer channel which sounded dope as fuck but was way too much cabling for my taste

Firmware 208 was released and it seems to fix the directly connected midi issue from OT Midi OUT --> nABC Midi IN

It seems the issue was fixed… but was going to say I had a similar issue when I wanted to sequence my Meeblip Triode directly from the Octatrack. The problem was that the OT spits out loads of midi data and the Triode couldn’t handle it all. A firmware update to the Triode fixed it. It’s why something like the Mio2 in-between makes it work… some unintentional filtering of the data.
