Smallest possible compressor with sidechain?

You could do that with the Analog Heat, couldn’t you? I haven’t tested it, but I think you could take take the kick (or whatever) into the expression input and map that to either the full volume or the high pass freq. I would have probably already tried this, but I want my kick to go through the heat too, which would be stupid in this scenario.

Unfortunately the Heat is way too big for the space I have left in my rig. It’s on the list to get someday but the price is also a bit out of my range too.

I just got a message from him. SC audio routed to output is not possible, not a deal breaker though.
Still waiting to hear about availability, though need to sell some stuff first.

FWIW, I’ve had this comp for years on a pedal board that I use primarily for electric bass (but also works great for guitar):

It didn’t seem to like line-level all that well when I tried it, but if you have a reamping option (like this, which I have), it works great.

EDIT: I should mention that I have barely tried the sidechain capability, so I can’t speak to it very well, but it’s a handy option in a nice compact package.

Looks like s beast! But I need stereo for my setup. Looks pretty killer for my guitar rig though. I currently run an Analogman Bi comp in front snd an Aphex optical comp on the end. Sounds great but not a lot of flexibility.

Do any of these recommended compressors let the sidechain input pass through to the output? So I don’t need to split the kick into two channels

Uh sorry, @Lieder asked the same question. Still stands tho

I think Suonobuono nABC is the winner here for me. It’s more than I wanted to spend but it has stuff I didn’t know I wanted until xidnpniss put it on my radar; thank you!!
I’m in touch with them and hope to place an order soon, just need to sell some things to make it happen.
I appreciate all the help very much.

You won’t regret it , it’s the best bang for the buck for solidity/praticity/portability and playability

You gonna love to use it with Digitakt for midi ducking , aswell working well as any compressor

Was nABC already mentioned?

Edit: yes it was
Haven’t read through

Hey man, any chance you have an Octatrack??
I got the nABC today. I set it all up and for some crazy reason it acts crazy when sequenced from OT (extremely uneven, jerky response from all parameters) I spent three hours swapping cables, changing setting, etc…
just when I finally decided the nABC was messed up, I tried it with a regular midi controller and both the Digitone and Digitakt AND IT WORKS GREAT!
Even stranger is the Octatrack works perfectly fine with every other piece of gear in my studio.
I about lost my mind today
The only thing between the OT and nABC is a Erica Synths midi splitter

My rig is so tight I haven’t tried removing that yet but nothing else has an issue with it.

@Lieder Let me check connection directly will report back
Got my iconnectivity mio4 between OT and nABC

Yes
You are right, haven’t tried myself :but OT directly connected using midi sidesmcahin NOT working
Using another midi device between there are no problems … Aaaaaah!

MK2 version of OT…

alright, I contacted Stefano about the MIDI issue - waiting for reply
was not aware of this - which makes it nessecary to run it via another MIDI device…

This is so strange. I contacted him too. I’m totally confused how this would be possible.
Thank you for checky.
