My cottage garden is in its second year. When I arrived this was a tangle of brambles, it took about three months to clear.
Up some steps and hidden is an area I call the wildlife graden. It’s mostly left to its own devices but I had to do a lead of clearing, it was completely out of control. Made a patio and dug a pond too. Scattered wildflowers around. Oddly it’s more maintenance than a normal garden to stop things like nettles taking over.
Very beautiful place.
It makes you want to land there.
I have the cousin of your bench but without the accessibility that goes with it.
Our gardens begin look like they should. Nice and growing

In the middle of the bean harvest.
It’s funny, at six and a half years old, this is the first time my daughter has really demonstrated teamwork.
I decided to put down grass seed, and to add some fertilizer. The big drum shaped bush is a lady banks rose that I trained to be shade for the fuschia beneath it. I put coleus in the planting beds, and marigolds along the path
Just picked this from the garden and it reminded me of you, @micabeza…
…and how much you love eggplant.
and your curvy purple trombone.
Notice, not a spot of rust.
(Actually there is a bit of rust on the leaves of the plant if you look closely. I need to apply some fungicide.)
Y’all so gross I should be flagging posts
It’s done…
Very impressive gardens this year
Northeast US I did not have as much luck given our early & sporadic heat waves alternating with torrential downpours!
Tomatoes ripened early & small, cucumbers did not thrive and I’m not sure my fig trees are going to produce much!
Better luck next season for me then.
Yep! Northeast here as well! I picked a solid year to not do anything! Weird summer weather wise!
I’ve been picking them off as they started ripening one by one since mid July, but now they are finally coming along in slightly bigger clusters ![]()
No two pound tomatoes on this one though…
