Uk squirrels all used to be red until some North American Greys made it over here and pretty much wiped them out.

There are still populations of red squirrels in the UK - I’ve seen some in Formby, for instance.

One of the things I liked about moving to France is that all our local squirrels are red. Then our cat pretty much wiped them out, annoyingly. Unless there’s invasive greys… Lovely cat, savage hunter though.
What did you expect a cat to do?

I haven’t seen frost in 16 years. Certainly not in my back yard.
