You’re both potentially right imo.

In fact, the two are related closely.

I will say, I don’t particularly like the Octatrack’s interface. Really don’t like encoders for performing.

However it’s MIDI implementation is so thorough it’s a joy to use with a few controllers connected.

My OCD compels me to post “Wave bye-bye to the bureaucrat” in response to the thread title, which I will neither explain nor apologize for.

Ah the OT, such a lightning rod.

Couple of years ago I decided to upgrade my almost 10 years old second hand Octatrack to modern revision. When I see it on mine or other people’s photos I have some slight nostalgia bites. It still looks great even with these clacky buttons and wearing surfaces

FYI, the MPC 37 keys. The local music store is back ordered over 40 units, eta is around November! For the most part nothing is available. Wonder what Akai is up to. Hoping that when it finally does arrive it might be at rev2. Whatever that is…

Photo evidence now.

Mk2 do fit the CF card more recessed into the box than mk1, however they leave that “nipple” protruding more. My complain that mk2 is more prone to Eject the CF by accident is because of that sensitive “nipple” getting caught during transport.

here, how come mine is sticking out? if I push gently on it it feels like it’ll pop the card out, so I haven’t dared :joy:

can I just push it in or is there another step? I feel like a proper fool

Push that nipple, do it slow but firmly. Push without fear, that nipple is there to be pushed…

Do it. Push that “nipple” all way down… I know you wanna do it…

I would be more afraid of the 9 nipple jacks getting caught than the eject button. If you have a bag with a rigid edge for the back of the OT, the elevation of the jacks would be enough to keep it from being pushed in.

And yes, I should trademark 9 Nipple Jacks maybe.

Me too. I don’t have enough space on my desk, so I need to keep the OTs stored. The 9 nipple jacks do get caught off I’m not careful enough when *pulling out *

I had the OT 1 and now for some years the OT MK2. Shure it is a little bit complex but if you know it you can do amazing thinks with it. For me it was and is one of the best music devices on the market so far. I have also an SP-404 MKII but this is also quite complex and it is more difficult to produce a complete production on it.

What I have never understood is why Elektron do not develope an OT 2 with the technology from today.

call her when you’re feeling freaky

Agree, I’ve read several times about the code and stuff but I do t think that needs changed much. Upgrade the effects, audio path, maybe more outputs. I’d buy that for a dollar.

I think about the possibility of an OT 2 (or MK 3 or whatever) at least twice a day.
