Save all recorders to static?

Hi, might be a noob question but Im wondering this. So I have bunch of nice loops I have recorded to recorder buffers. Now I know that in recording mode I can press Function+Bank and choose Save All. But this just saves the samples to the same slots as recorder buffers in flex sample list. Thats ok otherwise, but if I make a new bank and start to record these will be wiped, correct? My question is, what is the easiest way to just autosave all tracks and convert them to static tracks as fast as possible? Or if that is impossible, how to at least assign the samples in the save all window to empty flex slots?

Im using my octatrack as a sketchpad of sorts and it frustrates to start to save samples in between one by one before opening a empty bank to do more stuff.

Anyone? There has to be a way around this!

AFAIK you can´t do it faster. What I do is go through each track and use assign to self, free static slot. sucks.

Hmm ok, so then I have to have a free static slot available? Ive owned Octa now for almost a year and everytime I try to show it some love it kicks me in the face with this kind of incredibly stupid things, why cant there be a choice to convert all flex tracks to static and save the sample…

Possibly OctaEdit allows you copy the recorder samples en masse to another location? Maybe not?

Just save, name and assign it where you want as soon as the recording is made. Tedious but it beats losing recordings.

Hmm yeah but it sorta destroys the immediacy that i want to have. Im making stuff that are really more about 4 bar loops that grow with every added track and improvisation loses its momentum if I have to pause to save some files. Sounds pretentious but dont know how to explain it other way heh. But I guess I just have to do it that way… if it would even save the recordings to first empty spot in flex list would be a win.

I think if you think about what you are wanting it’s not a trivial or indeed obvious thing to offer up

there are too many pitfalls to make automation work robustly or logically, but there are at least tools to help tidy up the flex recordings per track so you just need to do a bit of housekeeping at the end if you want to change the part

saving a flex recording to a free static slot is the only viable option, what else would you advocate … overwriting ! If you want to keep it semi-workable you could always make an effort to keep the first 8 static slots free, then when you ‘save to first free static’ you could already have an alternative part set up with Static tracks pre-looking at the 1-8 static slots that you can then fill

one thing the OT is not short of is options, it may not work for everyone’s ideal workflow but keep in mind it’s the most flexible box of its kind and complex enough as it is

Ahh I sort of missed its free slot not free track. That helps a bit. Now I still cant wrap it around my head why couldnt I do the same to save to a free flex slot…

Thanks everybody for help!

I think you need the static slots, because the first 8 flex slots are connected to the recorder buffers and will be overwritten, each time you record something new to the specific track and the flex memory is limited to 80mb, which is not much.

But I understand what you want very well. I hate to save something in the middle of a jam. It´s like doing math while you paint.
