Roto Control (MIDI controller by Melbourne Instruments)

Yeah and that’s pretty standard with small midi controllers. Is the same with the EC4

unfortunately for me this beta update is crashing my plugins. is this happening to anyone else?

Thanks, though I suspect if I turn the power off with that, the Roto will then look to the other USB port (which is plugged into my computer) and attempt to use that which currently isn’t supplying enough power. At which point I’ll then have to manually unplug the cable.

Then you can use this to the computer.

Dang! You got it all! :sunglasses:

@chapelierfou correct! The OT is the only Elektron box that can send its current parameter values via CC61.

From my experience, there was no way for parameter changes from a DT/DN/etc to transmit back to my EC4, so I assume the same limitation applies to the ROTO.

I noticed that you can only motion record the first page (1-8) of a MIDI setup. If you go to the second page (9-16) and hit record it bounces back to the first page. Can anybody confirm if this is correct?
I was doing a setup to control OP-XY and came across this.

Pretty much silent

Correct. I discovered this after mapping all pages, and had to change everything to have the best parameters on the first page.

The motion recording only works with the first 8 you’ve made.

I hope this is updated to allow all pages to be controlled.

I’d imagine it’s limited based on how you’d jump between pages and all the knobs would be moving, maybe there was issues making that work for more than 1 page

FYI for those that are wondering, Richard from support has told me that they’re looking into Push 3 Standalone integration as we speak.

That would be absolutely epic, because only the Kontrol Mark 3 controllers work natively with Push 3 SA as it stands.

Having the Roto as a permanent mixer attached to P3SA would be absolutely amazing. Insta buy for most Push 3 SA owners

For sure, and for Push 3 controller owners too I think. The RotoControl looks like it would complement Push brilliantly.

As I understand, all controllers with a native control surface script will work just fine with Push 3 SA?

I tried a Novation Launchcontrol XL and it worked just fine. Of course, it doesn’t have motorized faders or knobs, but the X-touch should work as well which has motorized faders and endless encoders with led indication.

Why do companies always release unfinished products .

You’d think so but it’s not that simple annoyingly. Loads of controllers that work natively with Ableton (I.e. EC4) don’t work with the Push 3 out the box.

But great news that MI are working on it!

I’d hardly call it unfinished. I think it’s been a very good release tbh and it’s one of the best controllers out (in my opinion). Amazing support too.

I’m having a bit of trouble getting it to transmit CC messages over USB in MIDI mode to my Hapax (Which is a USB Host). How does that work, is there a setting to enable it?

EDIT: Oh how I wish for Push 3 standalone support. This is so great.

EDIT2: oh I hope there will be bulk editing options or copy/pasting of whole knob assignments in the edit software.

got a push 3SA here and was wondering this. If I’m being honest, I’ve bought this because it’s just such a nice thing, but still trying to figure out if it actually replaces or compliments my push. A few friends have asked, so what’s the advantage of motorised knobs? I dunno, they feel different.

Was just joking about the emojis not being available in the above post.
It is a fantastic controller.
