Roland TR-1000 User Thread

I’m finding v1.14 to be stable so far. No crashes or lockups (yet). The UI seem a bit snappier too, was a bit laggy when doing some things on v1.13.

Working normally on first step for me here.

What do you mean ‘misses’ that the LFO has zero depth on the first trig?

Yes , but must be pattern related , because it’s working now on another pattern.
I’ll get to the bottom could be user error , some automation data or something but I’m sure I checked all that.

Ok! So got to the bottom of the import problem, yay

The category name has to be under 8 letters I think , otherwise it just shows the first 8 characters and the folder won’t contain anything.

You guys must be naming yr categories with less than 8 on import from app, amirite ?

Yes i think that might be the case
Though for me it wouldn’t even accept 8 characters ifor the categoty “Ambience”

Haven’t tried again recently as I just hauled everything over via USB instead

I batch converted as well which is a bit quicker than letting the machine do it.
Haven’t had scrolling errors since , but that may just be coincidence.

I love how well RX batch converts , replicating folders etc , it’s such a sweet audio editor in general

That’s what linked to you before

And with a workaround

Totally missed the last bit of that chat I was skim reading for bullet points , my bad.

However on mine it gets cut off on the 1k and the app shows the full name.
What’s even more curious is it shows the full name on the 1k if you go into files , but not when selecting categories.
Anyway

Thank you , appreciated

An update to the manual on file management would be good or they should release a ‘best practice’ video.
I feel like we are not going to see much more action ‘till more are in the wild.

I’m not sure if this a bug or not, but the notes being sent out of the TR-1000 via MIDI don’t respect the hold time of the Amp envelope.

I was hoping to be able to use the note out from the RC track to trigger a specific pattern on my TT-303, but it needs a sustained note over the length of the pattern, so I set the Amp Env to hold mode over 64 steps, but the TT-303 receives both a Note On and Off in Step 1.

Another thing I noticed, all the OSC/Synth PCM gen’s seem to have a short envelope applied, so you can’t sustain them even when setting a longer hold time. I was expecting these to sustain. I was trying to sustain the Supersaw gen and then use the gate mode on the sidechain to create a trance gate effect but it’s not possible.

Hi guys, quick question;
i started a new project, but i would like to use some intstruments/kits from the ‘project 1’ project that came with the unit from the factory.

What is the easiest way to import/copy kits from project 1 to project 2?

Menu/file/export and choose to export Project 1 to your USB drive.

Then menu/file/import and choose kits, then select what kits you want to Project 2 and the location. It’s easy.

Do you still have this issue? I now have it on track 1. The sample is on the B gen and an analog 808 BD on the A gen. mix setting etc. doesn’t matter. No modulation or motion recording whatsoever. The sample drops very often and randomly. Very strange. Did you find a solution to this?

I know they’re both on BD but do you happen to be using sidechain anywhere else in the pattern?

Nope. The droppouts are very random, so it’s nothing obvious like that

I think I might have experienced it once in an older firmware but nothing recently.

Weird. It seems to have stopped doing it. I think after saving the project.

For what it’s worth I could never replicate that bug no matter how much I tried. And I tried.

What were the gens you used?

i believe from the kit loading page, you can use the < > keys to switch projects

i don’t recall if this works for single instruments

Not sure I understand. I just set the envelope to time, maxed it out, added an LFO to gain and got the effect. There is a tiny click you’ll have to address at the beginning of the sound though.
