Roland TR-1000 User Thread

The only thing I don’t like about the TR1K is the manual- someone write a new one please

very interested in how this error setting sounds.

edit: also what kind of settings the “circuit bending” stuff has. are there people already playing around with them?

let me know guys if questions like this from a non user are off topic here

Nodding along to that one

Thanks mate!
Mad that that option only appears in GEN when you have an OH engine running, and, it’s hidden in the drop down of the TR-1000 app;

I haven’t really gone through the extended ACB settings, but from what I’ve seen so far they’re really good.

Here’s an example of the TR-909 Hats ERROR from 0% to 100%. At the end are 2 individual hits at 0% and 100% so you can hear the difference.

cool, thanks! keep us updated ^.^

Not at all- asking users how things sound/work etc all good, we are just trying to keep it about the TR ‘in use’ rather than its cost, a users critique (why I didn’t buy it etc…) or comparisons with other gear…all that in the other thread

I’m very happy for these questions. It makes me look at things I haven’t checked out yet.

The manuals are atrocious. Most of the things I’m looking for aren’t documented. There’s a lot of “use these buttons and knobs to select and edit these parameters” but the parameters and details aren’t listed. Hopefully this will come at the end of the month as stated on Roland’s website. At the moment it’s a lot of trial and error - which is fun!

I’d really appreciate it if we could get some subtle randomisation/variation options… the Arturia DrumBrute Impact has a good one, and I really like Bram Bros’ Hammerhead iOS app that has controls for Chaos and Mutate.

I think Rolands mentality might be more along the lines of Scatter for this, but I find that garish most of the time, personally.

Yep. I’ve been buying Roland gear, off and on, for 40+ years and I’ve yet to come across a manual from them that isn’t idiotically structured, at least partially incomprehensible and/or full of glaring omissions.

Great gear, terrible manuals. It’s the Roland way.

The Roland Deep Dive video is well worth a watch - it’s 3+ hours but gives you most of the guidance you’re likely to need.

I think their reference manuals are usually OK.

This time, apparently it is not finished yet. Roland stated that it will be updated at the end of this month. So just some patience!

Yup- for example shift+last step top change the ‘first step’ (start point)…not in manual (as far as I can see), took me a while to work out how to change it back!

I get how to define the 16 different morphs, but has anyone figures out how to quickly select a different morph when performing?

Is megabreak of doom possible on the tr1000?

There are randomization, probability, lots of options

Akai and Roland really pushing out the video instructions

Generally I like video instructions, but i prefer 15 minutes max videos covering each ‘chapter’ and then maybe a few ‘song from scratch’ (blank kit/pattern) type things. That said, I am on my second watch thorough of the 3 hour video still picking up bits I missed and making notes!
