That’s interesting , haven’t come across it , but the MC707 used to have that issue for a few months , however it got fixed in an update.
So I bet it’s on their radar

Yes , so as far as I can workout, using Ableton as master and all tracks , I needed to set midi clock offset (in lives midi settings clock out) to -80ms, 50 if using layered gens mode. This is all at 128 sample buffer settings)
Now you could leave the clock offset at 0 and change it on the TR1K (sync settings in project setting menu)
However I’vefound that the setting needs to be changed depending on pattern, so it’s a bit redundant.
Best to do offset in Ableton. But even those settings can change every time you open a project or add a plugin.
Sample accurate devices like multiclock/nome will only keep the TR1K in time , it won’t adjust the start latency for you.
Without a device you get jitter , I.e. things won’t fall exactly on the grid , assuming you quantise in the first place.
But that’s the same with pretty much any hardware to a more or less extent.
So do you need a device ? not anymore than with any other hardware, but it is certainly worth it if you don’t like chopping audio and moving start points to get it tight. Also allowing for things like swing and offsets that won’t fall on the grid, so you see how a stable clock makes things sound like they were supposed to.
If you can spend on sample accurate clock , it’s going to be a blessing for any of your hardware.

Just tried with Syntakt and there is a 1 bar latency.
When I send PC from my OT, TR changes to the right pattern but go back to the first one after 1 bar.
I also get some strange behaviour sending PC for pattern changes to the 1k from my Hapax. Submitted a support request a few days ago

I was wondering whether Analog 4 might behave differently as you can set it to Direct Start/Jump.
A future TR-1000 feature I hope !
No it doesn’t. Direct jump is for manually switching patterns.
It does play patterns based on midi notes though. I never tried it but think it will jump instantly.
I’ll give it a try tomorrow.

I guess I’m just gonna have to live with re-aligning the audio in live.
Damn it… I’m sad.
Last night was a bad one. I was getting deep into loop work — recording, slicing, sequencing percussion loops — and then twice I hit a hard freeze. And both times I lost some work.
Hm… yeah… not good. Total workflow and mood killer.
Worst part: I can’t even say what caused it. Fresh project, enough sample slots, recorded with the TR-1K. No software editor — just standard work.

So sorry about that. Hope you can recapture the vibe you had going. From my experiences and from accounts shared on this thread it sounds like working with samples sometimes causes issues, whether it’s writing samples to storage or something less simple to diagnose. I’ve had crashes while transferring samples to voices via the app. It’s the only way I’ve imported samples into the TR-1000 so far.

Yeah had a freeze the other day while working with a sample. Can’t say for sure what caused it though. They need to fix that.

Yeah — I reorganized the studio yesterday and integrated two Drawmer DS201 gates. Which basically means: racking them, labeling everything, pulling cables, and wiring them into the patchbays. Then I set up a new routing system for sampling into the TR1k.
After 8 hours of work (and my time is very limited. Every free minute counts) I was finally happy to jam… and then the TR-1000 was like: “Nope. Not with me.” 
Man, it’s all there. On paper this machine is perfect: good sound, and especially the sample handling features — plus a ton of memory for it. But the whole timing topic and the freezes are a major letdown.
Turned on my 909 and S950 after it happened… The good old 80s machines are never letting me down and Depeche Mode too !

Just wondering: does it freeze more often when it’s externally clocked?
When I was playing the time before with samples, it was the master clock, and I’d get maybe one freeze every few days — annoying, but acceptable.
But yesterday? Two freezes in one hour. That’s a different story.
I am working already around the timing issue, organizing and recording clocked externally and than switch to master clock for performance, but this also played against me yesterday.

I am hoping for meaningful updates that don’t take an eternity to arrive. My biggest issue was with one particular pattern in which an eight bar sample set to 1/8 conditional trig wouldn’t trigger, or would trigger and stop after five steps, or would trigger once and not the second or third time round. Due to this, I’m not sure I can trust it for live use in my use case (a sample-heavy approach). I appreciate Roland are essentially expanding an existing product (TR-8S) to do stuff that it wasn’t really designed to do (loop like the SP-404 MK2 or MC-707 but in a more ‘Elektron way’ with conditional trigs) but they need to step up and address the issues.
Also again, sorry to be a broken record but the 500 sample limit with the current implementation (slicing a sample into 16 seemingly removes 16 samples from the limit) frankly sucks. I hope they can tweak this. Time will tell.
I am genuinely hopeful.

Purely anecdotal: I’ve had mine clocked externally for the past few weeks and I have not experienced a single freeze. I have not used the sample functionality at all so far.

What is your clock ? I’m thinking about the Cirklon being the master for mine .
