Roland TR-1000 User Thread

I’ve been sleeping on the Analog Four. Never occurred to me to check out videos on it. Has more range than I expected.

Edit: Track sounds hella proper.

To be fair @martin01 is kind of a genius, and his A4 work also makes me want the synth.

Your so kind. :black_heart: imo the A4 fits the TR-1000 really well. Its got that analog presence and articulation. Therefor it sits good with the high dynamic range of the TR-1000. I’ve really been struggling quite a bit as we talked about @abluesky. Tried so much gear. I’m starting to feel more comfortable with the TR-1000 now.

Sounds great. I was listening to your playlist yesterday and can absolutely hear the growth.

This is interesting because I’ve been trying to pair the SH-4d with the TR-1000 but find it really doesn’t sound great next to the TR. I was looking at the Analog Four as a possible replacement.

For me the Analog Four is one of the best synths out there. So versatile. Great sound design.

Does it sync well with the TR-1000?

Just to go back to morph for a sec.

I find it a little frustrating that you have to be in edit mode to choose which morph you want, not sure how else you would do it however.
But it would be nice to swap between morphs on the fly without having to go to edit mode.
I mean maybe it’s just not a big issue to be stuck in edit mode , but I don’t like it for some reason.

Maybe like long press morph to bring up the 16 presets you’ve made or double tap.

I had the same thought. Long press and select preset.

Yes makes sense

I think I found a new bug (haven’t seen anyone talk about it yet?).

When you quickly move 6 or more faders simultaneously, the sequencer timing will lag/ get wonky temporarily.

The more faders you move simultaneously, the more obvious the issue. If you listen really closely, you can even notice it with less than 6 faders (even 3, but very subtle).

I remember the TR-8S had the exact same issue when it was just released. They fixed it in a later firmware update, so hopefully they will for the TR-1000 as well.

Haven’t reported to Roland yet, but will do soon.

I’m pretty sure someone mentioned this in this thread already. I’ve not noticed it myself though. Not sure if they reported it.

Forgive my seemingly basic questions but I’m really struggling to get my head around this clock issue with the tr1000 as it’s my first hardware drum machine.

My goal basically is to use it with ableton so would buying a multiclock allow me to do this reliably and consistently? At the moment I’m basically finding it unusable with ableton.

Sorry if this has been covered a lot already but all the different opinions are really confusing me

Worms, meet can. From my understanding, there is significant jitter and latency if you are trying to clock from Ableton. If you clock from the TR-1000, you can lock and everything will be relatively tight in “All Tracks” sync mode., but you will have about 48ms latency. In “Layered Gens” sync mode, you will have around 12 seconds latency, but some flaming with certain layered sounds (analog/samples). With a clock like the Nome II, I’m hearing it’s tighter than any other method, but you still have the 48/50ms latency. Now, all of this assumes you are just trying to sync the TR-1000 and Ableton. If you are pulling other devices into the mix, there are more cans with worms.

I’d love the same behavior with Fill-in button to select which Fill variation to use

Yes. No problems when TR is master. Haven’t tried reverse.

Do report this. I did a while ago.

Yup already have a while ago. No response to any of my bug or feature request tickets….

The fill-in button can be set to latch (default) or momentary. (Personally I prefer momentary so I can start fills mid-bar and end them before the end of a bar, etc)

So in effect the press-hold functionality has already been claimed by this feature. Not sure how Roland works around that. On the 8S there’s a second button in the fill in section, and that’s the one that is press-held to select fills.

Have you tried sending program changes from the TR to A4? Does the A4 change pattern at same time or does it change late?
