Can’t decide if i should go alphabase, drumding, tonverk or the tr-1000, what you recommend?

Yes

All I can say is that I sold all my other drum machines after getting the 1000

Why?

I’d say TR generally.

I’d do miss the Jomox kick drum though. And the Jomox just sounds brilliant out the box and sits well in a mix without any fuss. I’m not saying the TR doesn’t, it does, but the Jomox is notable in that department.

I think all of them are different, don’t ask anybody, try to go to a shop and test them, maybe one will click with you, or order every single one, test it and return the two least enjoyable.

These are instruments that have to excite you, it’s not a spreadsheet game, there is no “best”. Sorry :frowning:

Jomox just figured out kicks…amazing. And yes, they tend to sit in a mix with ease. I used to have the euro rack kick module (can’t remember the model name) and made sure to sample like 80 of em before I sold off most of my euro rack. They’re all in my Tonverk and probably appear on like 85% of my tunes. That said, The TR-1000 kicks are pretty dang stellar

You use your tonverk for drums?

I got the Mbase11 for the Jomox kick but frankly I use the 8X kick the most.

Sometimes, sure. Every Elektron is a drum machine if you want it to be  @Oxenholme is making amazing synthesized drums using TV’s Wavefinder synth. Now, back to the topic! Always stoked to hear more TR-1000 demos. Beautiful machine

Do you swing each element individually to different levels or the song or pattern or whatever globally?

Do you swing some elements and keep other elements straight?

Are you, or anyone else reading this, making dub techno or ambient dub with a TR-1000?

I don’t have any synths with polyphony or even keys. I’m digging around a bit for nice chord samples to put into the TR-1000 but I’d love to hear some other ideas or approaches that don’t include buying hardware

I’ve been loving artists like Morten B, Cv313 and Deniro

Any vst + a delay like UAD galaxy echo could do !

I just swing the whole Song globally and have everything locked to it…no specific settings per-track.

Why don’t you use the on board sounds, effect them and sample? Then resample. Etc. you could also create a chord using the OSC gens, sample that, etc.

It’s excellent at drums

I am not an impulse buyer and had the same question about 2 months ago. After a insane amount of research i pulled the plug and got the TR-1000 since last Friday: no regrets whatsoever. At first i was a little underwhelmed, because it’s a shit load of money, but after spending a couple of days with it in isolation today it’s part of my setup and i must say they did a good job. It can sound clean but damn with the build in clipper, 24Db of extra gain on channels a additional digital boost on each channel and a master analog drive, transient shapers on each channel and slow lfo’ed whatever destination on each channel this box sounds mental. I was very close to buy a Alphabase MK2 and still believe i wouldn’t had regret that purchase but with all modern sequencer options that the TR offers it’s comparing apples and oranges. #honeymoon fase

The TR1000s feature set is uncompromised and was why I had to part ways with the AB. The overall playability of this machine makes it the best in class since the OG models hit the market, yet updated with the sampling, timestretching, morphing, and great sounding effects.
