I think you should at least count the filter + amp sections to the “engine” as well, as those really are synthesis building blocks. The Gen is just the oscillator section so to speak (with their own envelopes etc)

True. I equated “engines” with “gens.” My brain needs a FW update.

I recall you mentioned motion recording prior to parameter locking to make it feel more elektron - curious how you did this without wiggling the knobs? In order for motion record to capture anything it seems that I need to love a knob slightly which can affect the recording itself.
Sounds like a lot of fun ! I used to trigger the DRM with my old Hapax, but Hapax was limited to 8 drum lines at the time as opposed to 16 that’s it has now, and so that was something which was a tad annoying at the time.
OK - I’m a believer in the TR-1000!
The analog 909 sounds really shine through when ran through distortion! Add in the sidechain and you can really get this thing screaming and pumping - my kind of music 
Also - I don’t know if it’s that there’s a lot to learn or this thing is just awesome, but I can’t keep my hands off of it. I just want to keep playing with it…

What would put this thing over the top for me is a better EQ or some type of filterbank - Tonverk and the MPC have filterbanks. I’m into that sound right now - you can really fill in the mid range, even with some movement to bring the loops to life

Check out the multiband saturator on the fx sections. But by differ bank do you mean a fixed filter bank? Can you link to an example?

Here’s just the analog 909 - not sure what I hear will come across with what you hear - but I’m into it.
I also work pretty heavily with samples so this sounds like it’s missing a lot of “extras” to make it interesting but anyway…I’m a fan of the TR-1000

I’ll check out the saturator - here’s the filterbank I use in the MPC

The saturator has a high pass, low pass, pre drive, high shelf, low shelf, and peaking filter that can be used almost like a notch.

Is anybodies utility folder empty? When you select a gen and browse by either all or per category (first column) and the scroll through the second column, my utility folder is empty.

About to attempt TR-1000 as master > Midi out to Bitwig Connect for Bitwig as slave which then passes clock to Oxi One for sequencing synths. Hopefully get some good results!

I’ve been making little melodies over a beat with a saw wave sample and then swapping them out with other sounds. It’s a cool way to make hooks with sounds you would never think of. I tried it with FM but I didn’t get anything there yet.
The bummer that I already reported to Roland is I imported a bunch of vocal samples and really want to go through them and see what fits this beat so I can have the main idea down and make more patterns from it. But when I scroll the samples the tr1000 freezes up and I have to unplug it. I think this is a known error but it’s kind of a killer for me until they patch it , just because I can’t browse my samples without the risk of it locking up.
I know they are on it so it’s probably a matter of days and hopefully that gets fixed. It also takes an incredible amount of time to import samples. Not sure if you all dealt with that as well or not.

Same here. Absolute beast sounds but in practice your choices are to sample or record your tweaking or leave your drums pretty static. I like using LFOs and p-locks too much.

Those snare rolls really take me back! I like what you’re doing with the rimshot as well. Did this require a lot of programming or was it pretty spontaneous? With such a generously provisioned control surface it seems like a fantastic machine for improvisation.
