Really nice update. Total surprise. And they’ve improved things I never would have expected, like providing a way for more seamless pattern changes. Or the quick save… Call me impressed.
Yes it does. Even if it’s a little clunky UI-wise, being able to do something like this on hardware is better than not being able to do it at all. This takes it pretty close to MSEG territory in my book.
… And 10 step undo/redo…
Oh my God, an update!!!
Quick overwrite!!!
I watched the update video twice; what a robust and thoughtful update that shows they were listening closely to customer feedback. Between this and their ongoing support of the 404 MK2 I feel Roland has significantly improved their reputation in the past couple of years.
Is this because i emailed then 2 weeks ago??? ![]()
Microtiming! (Edit maybe not?)
Edit edit YES!
Anyone know if the FX destination in the mod matrix now works? I’m at work so can’t test, and it wasn’t mentioned in the update notes.
Nice update!
I’m glad I was too lazy to sell it now.
I wonder if anyone is working on a v2.0 overlay with the qwerty keys, portamento shortcut and other stuff?
i got an email from guitar center about the sh-4d being restocked a couple weeks back, it made we wonder if something was on the horizon. this is cool! may motivate me to finally get the decksaver to increase the portability potential
Woah! Yet again I have zero regrets snagging this day one.
I saw new 24 posts in the topic, thought that was strange, was extremely pleasantly surprised to find out about the update. Very cool!
My pre coffee eyes thought it was the SP thread and got stoked for the imaginary SP-666 that Roland is about to put out in my head. Still delighted the 4d got updated. Here’s to hoping the micro timing can get added to the TR-8S.
The faithful have been rewarded* for their endurance!
*purchasers of new and second hand will also get the same reward
Wow the mad lads finally added pattern chains, might have to dust the ol lady off this weekend. Wonder if this is the only update, since people have been bugging them for awhile.
NGL. I’m kind of excited about this Harmonic engine. Organs were my gateway in to synths. I still have to force myself to design something other that dirty organ sounds when I start turning knobs. It’s cool to have some organ tones but with subtractive synthesis perimeters.
Yeah that sounded sweet on the videos I’ve seen.
Nice update, only two years ![]()
Quick overwrite is much welcome.
I had hoped for some better samples for the PCM model (stop my occasional GAS for a 90s rompler), and some more filter modes - but still happy to see Roland hasn’t abandoned it
That one may be very hard cause the physical interface only has a LP,BP,HP selector.
I know I thought about that.
There’s always the shift button.
Or some menu for enabling “vintage mode” or JP-8 mode etc
