Is it possible to route the output of the MFX to reverb or delay?
No. They run in parallel.
Looking to swap out the battery in mine but the only ones I can find for sale (Ireland/EU) have two wires (black and red) instead of the three (black/red/yellow). Am I looking at the wrong thing?
Oh, maybe found one:
picked up an s-1 again today and started looking for zip cases for the compacts. the roland ones are perfect of course but they are also $30. realized two compacts stacked up are a bit shorter than the ep-133 so i pulled out the old case i used to use before i got the ep-133 decksaver and it works great! like a lil modular roland groovebox
That there’s a sweet lil portable setup! Can you combine both devices outputs without needing a mixer?
I’ve heard that the S-1 has a superpower, it can function as a superb controller for the P6’s granular mode. Shouldnt require more than connecting S-1’s MIDI OUT to P-6s MIDI IN and using the correct channel, then the S-1 knobs should control P6 granular directly.
Do you have a link to that case?
yup! got the s-1 output going into the p-6 mix in so i can sample it when i want or just let it go through into the mix out. and the granular integration was definitely a motivating factor! i havent given it a try yet though.
@x0x yuup, its this 11 inch iPad case i cut out the middle flap
how would one go about painting the bottom (yellow) section of the enclosure on the P-6? is there a type of acrylic or suitable type of black paint that would not look shiny (matte might be ideal), and not peel or stink like spray paint?
I would use plasti-dip but that stuff comes off very easily. im not a fan of the yellow
If you also had another different color Aira compact you could probably swap their shells pretty easily.
someone here used strips of electrical tape, i followed their lead and i forgot that the tape was there eventually. but my application certainly isnt as clean as painting could be
well if black make you create better music, just paint it, go for it
I do believe that the absence of yellow would increase my insp points by about +5
But I was more asking if anyone had experience painting plastic like this. Is there a specific type of paint that would look better? Probably the wrong place to ask I guess
The tape idea isn’t bad though
I do have an s-1, but I wouldn’t want that to be yellow either
I am sincerely considering this
Order another S1, swap out the base, and return the S1 with a yellow belly.
No. Don’t do that.
I was curious how one would go about this and saw this tutorial. Let us know how it goes if you do it.
This one is good as well for even more detail.
Plastic is easy to paint, just remember to use a primer (some brands of plastic dont take paint unless primed). You can make any painted surface matte, gloss or semigloss by applying a top coat to it
I’ve been trying out a “micro acid techno” setup, and originally I wanted to use the P-6 as a drum machine.
I loaded it with 909 samples, and gave it a whirl. The results weren’t as fun as I hoped.
When performing you need to quickly mute parts in/out and with the silly way P-6 is organized into banks, it’s impossible to keep tabs on what is where. Even with all kicks on bank A, I can never remember if I have bank A or B selected with the cryptic blinking lights on the bank buttons.
The lack of overdrive was also a drawback to add some omph and grit to the plain ol’ 909 sounds
Any tips on the mute thing? It’s a problem with the P-6 I have generally, not just when using it as a poor mans 909
thank you @DimensionsTomorrow & @jm2c
i will post my results when i get a chance to try this
found a primer + paint from Krylon. not sure of the difference exactly between matte black and flat black. flat looks very cool here,
but i think might be a little less deep black than the rest of the p-6. so i went with matte to be safe (also cheaper)
