i think it turned out great. i just used the krylon all-in-on primer/paint matte black and rust-oleum matte clear coat
Looks good! Nice work!
thanks for the tips. i scuffed up the existing clear layer slightly with a brillo pad type thing before painting it black, as the video instructed, but not much. but that krylon all in one primer+ paint is very nice and works really well on its own. i don’t think it requires any preparation at all, aside from disassembling, unscrewing the control board from the bottom layer, detaching the battery plug, and covering the parts you don’t want painted with tape
the clear coat stuff adds a nice finishing layer, makes it look more professional/less like paint, but only requires a thin layer.
if anyone does decide to paint theirs, you have to get the inner lip which seems like it wouldn’t be visible (the side that meets the top piece of the enclosure). because when i first painted it, i didn’t get that part, as it seemed like it wouldn’t show when it was reassembled, but it did
this is what it looked like after the first attempt, where i painted it laying upside down and ignored the inner lip, which is still visibly yellow here:
and another angle of the finished p-6(with the clear coat rust-oleum layer):
(i think i sprayed a little too much of the ‘Rust-Oleum 334022 Painter’s Touch 2X Ultra Cover Spray Paint - Matte Clear’, but its not as grey and speckled as it appears here)
Yeah, top coats can be tricky, if they go on even slightly too thick, they tend to cloud up a bit
Price at GC went up 10 $269.
I’ve revisited using the P-6 and tried to solve my issue of losing track of everything mid performance.
One thing that seems to help - I rediscovered the sample swap feature, PAD + SHIFT + PLAY
so you can juggle things about and get what you’re using onto a single bank, or possibly two.
Monotron delay sounds epic on this PO-33. I bet it’s a good fit for the P-6 as well. Gonna have to give it a go.
Oh man, they biting my 2019 style
