Roland P6 Aira Compact sampler

Thanks

Edit: Hang on, could I not create sample chains and then use the chop function on the device?

No… when you step sample, the chop function does not work on the individual steps.

Random Backup Experience

Last night, I backed up the P-6 to my phone for the 1st time. I have to admit, there was something cool about that. I definitely don’t like the current backup process, but being able to back up the device to my phone was a liberating experience. Being able to not need to be in my studio or at my computer for that was nice

this should work, as long as you have everything equally distanced. the step sampling on the device is so fast tho, its hard to recommend doing it any other way

made this tune on the p6 pair last night. and i found some lift off hinges for my battle box, i think this will be the upgrade im looking for. i like having both of them in one container, i dont love dealing with the lid.

all the synths were sampled off the verselab

Thanks, I have it hooked to usb now so might just sample it in

You could use octachainer or similar to make a chain of equal length samples and then use chop?

Theoretically speaking as I’ve not tried it with the p6

Can you apply different settings to each sample step? Like different envelopes, filter etc.? Or do these settings apply to the pad?

filters and envelopes apply to the whole pad unfortunately. i’ve started being more strategic with my chains to make sure they are all things that i want to share similar settings

Thanks. I’m setting things up for the first time so trying to do the same

Thinking about getting a P-6, wondering about some things though:

  1. Can you use step sampling with resampling, to essentially accomplish uneven chops?
  2. Can you give each pad a different MFX?
  3. Can you record MFX automation for an MFX not currently assigned to a pad?
  4. Can I send audio over usb from SP404mk2 back and forth?
  1. Looking at the manual’s signal flow chart it seems you can only have one MFX active at a time

This is true and they cannot be automated.

Thanks.
Was planning to use it as an extension to the 404 so really hoping the audio management is smooth between the two

  1. is definitely no… they are both class compliant usb devices, you need a usb host that has the drivers to make the other one work… and neither of them fit that role.

Bummer but now it makes sense why, thanks

made this tune on the p6 pair yesterday, its nice and calming. the chords were sampled off my reface cs which i just sold yesterday too. the sh-4d is dropping in soon tho so the smooth synths will keep on coming

Is it possible to sequence external midi gear and sample it direct on the p-6?
Not sure if it can sequence external gear.

how do you do this just grab an image/copy/whatev from the p6 when it shows up as a storage device on yer phone? then can you load that back onto teh p6?
