made a chill lofi house jam on the p6’s today. i started it last night and it was lulling me to sleep. sampled all the melodic stuff off the verselab and finished it up on the 404.
Anyone else getting some drifting with the micro timing?
Sorry to double post but the P-6 finally got some serious attention from me. Four synth parts are the SH-4D. One from the Multi/Poly. Drums are TR-08s one shots sampled in to the SP-303 then on to the P-6 for the sequences. The non drums were sequenced with the Machine +. Everything sent through the Model 2400 in to Ableton.
This is great! Fantastic work.
Thanks!
Have you tried sampling the synths into the 303? I really love the various sample rates in the P-6. One of the main reasons I got the 303 was to sample long stuff in that would be a bit of a pain on the P-6. I love the idea of combining the two.
Not yet. I traded so much gear for a few new pieces recently that I’m still on the very early stretch of learning the 303, Multi/Poly, and P-6. Not gonna lie, the 303 kind of intimidates me due to its historical importance.
Thanks! I’’l give it a look after this episode of The Baking Show is over.
What do you think, is the P6 too complicated for kids in the age of 3-7 years?
And do you gave it already to your or other kids and did they had fun with it?
It depends on what you expect them to do with it. Simple sequencing with the preloaded sounds would be fun for a child but some of the other sequencing options might be too complicated.
Also, IMO, that age range might benefit more from something more immediate and that has a speaker.
One final thing, maybe the most important thing: whatever you decide, be prepared for it to get broken. It will 100% be an accident but it will happen.
I caved and ordered a P-6 last night. It’s arriving today. I’ve been using the Roland T-8 as a USB MIDI interface with Ableton Move, as a bridge for connecting my other synths via MIDI DIN. The issue here is that nether the T-8 or the Move has effects on the audio input. The P-6 does so should working perfectly for this use case
I don’t really need another sampler, as I obviously already have the Move, plus I have the excellent EP-133, but I guess the P-6 will have its own flavour, plus it’s tiny and has the granular synth so will give that a go.
What are guys using for cases for the Roland Compacts?
Ah, you‘re right, the missing speaker is a big con…
Can you send the sound of the P6 to a Bluetooth box?
I thought it‘s fun for kids to sample themselves and pitch their recorded sounds higher or lower via the keyboard.
Of course, if they also understand to easy sequence their sound, that would be a plus.
Yeah, if it breaks, that’s fine.
Yeah, you can send the output to a bluetooth speaker but you’ll need a 3.5mm cable.
I use a Decksaver but I also might pick up the Aira case from Roland. The Decksaver is solid.
On the P-6, you can send the input to Bus A, Bus B or the effects. It’s surprisingly flexible.
Yes sounds great
Edit: what are the two buses for? Is it just so you can assign pads to separate buses to adjust volumes as a group? Or can you do other stuff with them? Apply different FX etc.?
