Roland P6 Aira Compact sampler

They could’ve introduced an app as well to deal better with the lack of a proper display and hidden features and other shortcomings.

From what I understand it does, but I think it would be a mixdown.

In this day and age it wouldn’t have surprised me…

23 secs in mono @11Khz

PO33: 40 secs in mono @ whatever rate they used

Not far off!

This device looks reasonably well-equipped, nicely balanced in terms of features.

Is it joy to use? I really hope so!

Looking forward to hearing some reviews from my fellow Nauts!

There is an app. P-6 sample tool.

This will be really fun with my Oxi One for sequencing/modulation, or something like the T1 or even the ipad. A pretty powerful little battery powered setup.

I ordered one, because this is the closest to Koala in hardware I’ve yet seen, and I’m still not happy with how Ableton and the Push handle sampling.

In fact, I think this might actually be a great companion for both. But really, I’m totally into the portability and the ease and speed of sampling.

I’m a long-time OP-Z user, so those button combos and obscure screen codes hold no fear for me!

This is the closest thing to an insta-buy that 2024 has delivered for me.

it looks good, I had a model:samples and sold it. Went for a Novation Rythm which I really like due to the sampling and resampling capabilites. Plus battery included makes it extra portable. But this fills the gap between the two I think.

Bit of a shame that it’s a 2in/2out usb-c audio interface and not a class compliant multi-track audio interface, but I can still make this work.

Also, when Loopop was talking about chops he didn’t mention being able to edit the start and end times of each chop. So maybe similar functionality to the Digitakt’s GRID machine where you only select how many chops and it just chops them evenly. Does anyone know any different, can you edit chop sample start and end points?

I’m impressed, this is so beefed that it’s steal at 200eur.
Looking at manual it looks like it has 20 MFX from 404mk2? Dedicated lofi button from 404sx is great touch as well I miss that on mk2. Step sequencer is amazing in comparison to sp line lol. So many things to love about this thing.

Great job Roland!

Wondering about this for ambient work…

That’s just an app for Mac and PC for sample management. Of course also nice but I was referring to an app on phone or tablet. And also not just sample management but having it as a display for most things if not everything.

yeah, I don’t think you can customize chops. Something like that is bound to have these limitations at that price point, but I’d like to be proven wrong.

That’s an absurd situation, it’s almost tragic… a Digitakt can’t even sequence a sample played polyphonically either… regarding this, the Polyend Tracker had the solution but Elektron doesn’t want to implement it (allows pooling tracks to play a sample polyphonically).

Interested in this as well.

Ok, I’m selling my Digitakt II. This thing has Polyphony.

Funny, my thought was, “You know, I own Koala, I should really make use of it first”.

I assume the pads are not velocity-sensitive?

They are not, but I think Loopop mentioned that you can get velocity from an external midi keyboard. Not 100% on that last point though.

« Once you’ve decided how a Sample will play, it will playback the same way across all the 64 Patterns ».

Ok, I’m not selling my Digitakt II.
