So my week of mopping up problems continues and I’m happy to report this one is solved as well. Somebody over at Gearspace that uses an OP-1 Field gave me a good tip, as the OP-1 seems to have a similar issue.
Basically, if you say record a two bar loop of something on the MicroKORG 2 and stop recoding right on time, you will get a pop/click when sampling it into the P6. However, if you record an overdub so that the recorder loops back around, the looper bakes in the crossfade at the start of the loop.
While I haven’t gone back to record external drums through the MK2, I tried a bunch of pad sounds using this technique and got perfect loops with no clicks 100% of the time when sampling a fixed measure (2 bars, etc) into the P-6, with no need for any kind of start/end point adjustments. It’s super fast.
This is a game changer for me, as I think the MK2 and P-6 are going to be best friends now.
