Well, if we’re doing Roland wishlists, I’d like an upgraded MC-707 with a nice display, a bunch of knobs for sound design, and an actual patch saving/recalling feature instead of that ridiculous thing they did.

I’m hoping for an MC-7000, basically the TR-1000 equivalent in the MC lineup. Analog 101/202 circuits inside a maxed out modern MC groovebox.
I don’t think I’d want to buy it, but would be simply awesome if it would exist.

This does seem like the most logical answer. But the real question is, what type of hat would Roland 2.0 wear? I’m going to go with Porkpie.

Been planning to jump on the TR-1000 whenever it becomes readily available, never seems to be in stock anywhere - tried it in the Roland shop in London earlier in the year and asked them when it was coming back in, their response was ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Very weird launch but good for my bank balance. Also there’s definitely a gap for an MPC that’s just about sampling, playability and sounding good, so an SP-606 /MV-8000 successor or even a deluxe 404mkii would be very tempting and might be more what I need anyway. That or a System 8 successor would be very hard to ignore.

Yeah me too I have been waiting to get a TR-1000 but haven’t been able to.
But now - I kinda just want to wait to see if Roland comes out with an “MC” version.
I want something I can pretty much make full tracks on, and while I think you can with the 1000 with the long sampling and chopping, etc, I think some of the bugs I keep hearing about and the limitations (like no easy chromatic playing or chords) would just frustrate me in the end.
So I guess I saved some money for now lol

we can only dream, but a refresh on sp range to compete with Akai would be nice. MV-8800 updated for 2026 would be amazing, but that be like me winning the lottery. Ain’t a chance.

I dunno, Roland has been sleeping on the sampler side. Sure they have the SP and P6 but I really want something bigger you know. Hope I’m wrong but it seems they willingly to concede to Akai on the sampler side, and more towards the safer bread and butter that sell.

That’s not really an MPC tho.
I’m not even in a hurry for a straight 404 update, pretty happy with it in general. But building on it with an MPC style grid sequencer and a ui update might be just the thing to fill the gap Akai had left.
I was thinking at the time the TR1000 launched that it was looking more like Roland were gonna deliver the next MPC I’d actually want and still kinda think this. But the most likely thing is that neither of them will.
