The hell. I’m still reeling from Drew Struzan.

Black Messiah is an amazing album

Fuck noooo.

Damn.

Very sad day. Very, very sad to hear this. I always thought there would be more music to come. He was very talented and his musical perspective made the music unique.

I’m so happy he seemed to find his musical kindred spirits through the years. At least that’s what I hope.

Wishing all the best to his family and friends. I’m hoping there’s some solace in knowing he’s inspired so many.

RIP

Deep album and one of my favorites period. Not just favorite of his, but one of my favorites.

Yeah same here, it’s like a modern classic Prince record.

I loved hearing how Questlove and him bonded over Prince and geeked out deep diving all his techniques.

The drums on this track always get me on the MPC or digital drum kit.

I think I was listening to this yesterday. RIP

Drew Struzan? He did the posters we grew up with. And just watched his documentary as well. Syd Mead and Struzan. Oh boy! RIP guys.

A top ten artist for me, he was almost too talented, “genius” is not an overstatement. Voodoo is still one of the greatest albums front to back. He took the Stevie Wonder/ Donny Hathaway keyboard-god thing to another level. Always conscious lyrically. thank you for your service D’Angelo :broken_heart:

As a teenager my musical tastes matched my peer group.

White as fuck.

Then this guy Shaz came to our school. His family were Bangladeshi, but this kid fucking loved D’Angelo. We had a little stereo in our sixth form common room and this kid would spin Brown Sugar at every opportunity.

Within days we were all D’Angelo fans.

Sad news, but a legacy of absolute bangers.

He wrote a song called “Shit, Damn, Motherfucker” doesn’t get more universal than that!
