What do you mean it plays too early? My guess is the audio plays as it should but you kinda would want it to play a little later, at least this has been my experience with reversed drum loops. If this is the case, you could try to set the start parameter somewhere near 127 or use microtiming to push the trig forward a little. Would be helpful to see or hear what you mean exactly.
Ok. My Setup is like this:
Midi: Ableton - Multiclock - Cirklon - Octatrack
Audio: DJ Mixer - Octatrack In - Ableton
Octatrack: T7 Thru Machine; T8 Recording Flex
Picture:
Track 1 Shows the Signal (from my DJ Mixer) running thru the Octatrack
Track 2 Shows the recorded Signal (Octatrack T8)
Track 3 Shows the recorded and reversed Signal (Octatrack T8)
And sorry for the confusion, it seems that the reversed Signal is actually to late or something like shortened.
If I now play with the Microtiming, the unreversed Signal (Photo Track2) is also effected and will loose its correct place.
The recording seems delayed indeed, you can see the silence at the end of the reversed recording.
I suppose you recorded T7 and not AB / CD, which implies a delay.
I’d try microtiming on the rec trig or Flex trig.
I actually did the " DJ Like" Setup more then one year ago. And I copied it in every Pattern of the Octatrack. I try to remember things. On every Pattern I can record a four bar Loop (Pressing T8+Record button1). And I can crossfade between Track 7 (The Input Signal) and Track 8 (The recorded Signal).
Track 7 Thru Machine, 1 (4bar) Trig on the first of 64 Steps
Track 8 Flex Machine, 1 (4bar) Trig on the first of 64 Steps
@sezare56 I don’t know what I record T7 or AB, how can I see that? And you are right, the recorded Signal in Octatracks Edit Menu looks delayed. BUT the forward recorded Signal fits very good (Photo 2) but the reversed Signal is delayed. If I now Change the Microtiming on the Step, the forward Signal is delayed an the reversed Signal is on Point.
