Reliq Matrix Mixer

If its a USB C interface - sounds like a linux pc, repackaged, then build in FX units would be possible with it, if the cpu allows it. Hmm, could be intreresting in this configuration. If they do a bitwig cooperation …

it is not audio interface unfortuntely

My expected shipping date just got moved to July/August. Add a potential 20% duty, I think I’m out.

Reliq are based in EU right?

I believe so

I just learned about this device. It looks amazing.

With automation lanes, it gets in hapax territorry, but i havent seen them showing any midi fx. The input sequencing is dope. Wished i backed this when it was fresh. Will be a cool device imho.

Indeed looks amazing and nice price. So huge though

Seems that way on paper. But despite being in peoples’ hands for months now, I really don’t hear anything about it being used this way — or being used at all, really.

It feels odd for such an innovative device to have such a void of conversation around it. But maybe I’m just looking in the wrong places? Or maybe it a really slow ramp getting it shipped out (I know some have said their shipments have been delayed)? Or maybe, being a mixer at its core, it requires more time for people to integrate it into their setups than your standard sequencer or whatever, and I have to be patient? I don’t get it.

Yes, assuming some guys have it in their hands, there should be a bit more hype around it. Maybe its just not there yet - but the overall concept is cool, with a modular system - this thing makes complete sense. Not so sure as a midi center host - and when one of these things break, its possibly hard to replace. For that aspect i think a hapax is better - when it breaks i can get another one, and it dosent break the bank that hard.

This was my introduction to it: https://youtu.be/CBDk6O7v0XY?si=MXhsX5VsxL_G1GNB

I reckon the first batch was tiny and not many in the wild

I assume it’s a combination of this and the price - there might not be that many in the wild, and it might take quite a while for people to get it set up in a way they really like.

Some of the reasons there isn’t a lot of hype around the Reliq are 1) very few people have one and 2) it still isn’t feature complete yet even for those who do have one. At the moment, there’s nothing really to distinguish it from any of the other of the available sequencers (ie Hapax and Oxi One). Besides maybe the Matrix Mixer. They shipped the first batch about two months ago and it’s only just now getting an arpeggiator. It’s not even ready for mass production yet. I think it’s probably going to be close to a year before it’s truly ready to build some hype. By that time the firmware will be feature complete and it should be able to distinguish itself more from the field.

if you’re a customer, on their site you can see what backer # is being shipped - as of this writing it’s around 95…

Wow, that was a pretty mind-blowing demo from start to finish. What a flexible piece of hw. The integration directly with Ableton looks super interesting

I personly find it rather overwhelming, with all its options with have hardly been unleashed yet. I guess, there is still a lot too come.

And don’t forget, not everybody is into making videos.

This device is the highlight of Superbooth this year for me. It has some things going for it but important to note other areas not quite there yet. I talked with the lead designer for a good bit (I asked them a lot of questions they said no one had asked them before). They are definitely passionate about what they are working on here. The large display is absolutely beautiful.

Can’t recall everything now in extreme detail but I would keep my eyes peeled for update plans. There are pros and cons. I don’t think I am going to jump on this product for what it is right now but I have a lot of respect for hardware developers who take high risks and this product is what I would consider very high risk.

I was backer #42 and have had a Reliq in my hands for a couple of months. My original explorations with it were fun and engaging…

However I haven’t been really doing any music making at all the last couple of months due to the chaotic sh*thole the US is turning into in terms of science and public health. I’m spending most of my mental and emotional energy try to keep smart young scientists employed and engaged in research…

That said, in the last few weeks I’ve been trying to make more room in my life for music, and the recent 1.1 FW update which brings a lot of the more sophisticated functionality promised to the Reliq has been enticing me to start digging into this device again…
