Receive and send from multiple MIDI channels

Hi,

I am stuck somehow with the MIDI setup of the OT and could need some help.

I would like to receive 4 midi channels (1-4) from a Keystep Pro at the same time, distributed across the OT midi tracks T1-T4, and these should then be forwarded to the MIDI channels stored in the source setup page. To keep it simple I set them also to (1-4). The OT is only passing the channel which is set up as Auto Channel. If I turn off Auto Channel, no MIDI notes are passed.

Is it even possible for the OT, to receive and send from multiple channels?
Or are the trig channels only for controlling the audio channel parameters?

I am not entirely sue what your asking. But as far as I know, the autochannel is for playing the selected midi track. If you put autochannel on x and midi keyboard on channel x, you play which track is selected… each midi track can be set to a midi channel. It will receive on this channel (apart from autochannel) and send on this channel.

If you want to control 4 midi track with 1 channel, and send out to 4 different channels, I don’t think this is possible… you could put a midi processor after the OT to achieve this

Yes.

The likely problem is that you have duplicated the channel numbers for your MIDI tracks on the audio tracks. Try going into the PROJECT > MIDI > CHANNELS menu and ensuring that none of the TRIG CH numbers conflict with the channel numbers that you want to use for your MIDI tracks.

Thank you so much!!! You saved my night.
The OT is now receiving from MIDI Channel 5-8 and then sends to my synths via 1-4.
The problem was really receiving and sending on the same channels.

I was confused, because the Keystep Pro is capable of receiving and sending on the same channel

Yeah I think a workable solution for you would be

KeyStep Channel 5-8
OT audio channels 1-4
OT Midi out channels 5-8

That may work. It might not though. This is possible on the Digitakt by setting what channels the midi tracks listen to for input notes which operates regardless of what channels the tracks are set up to send output on.
