149 $
I love the visual display for these(mostly synthgirl) very nice looking and the price they’re able to offer these to people(presumably)
But dang interacting with either of these looks like a joyless nightmare.
If these things take off, hopefully someone can make and sell patch builders to transfer to from the computer.
Also, hopefully a midi controller template for them.
I wonder how long samples can be on the drumboy.
I doubt you could use it as a stem player, but if you could- i would certainly have a use for that.
Edit: I really hope you’re not the creator of these things because that would be awkward
y no battery?
Oh goodness…the demos on the site don’t work on mobile or my laptop…
Oh no…the data inputs are just sync…so you’re locked in to the built in workflow of these machines…
Also they’re facing the user- which is an interesting design choice
Hello Ryan!
I’m not author this project I’ll just posted this news.
Thank you for relieving my stress
Looks like the demos haven’t been uploaded on their end yet, I guess we’ll hear more once the kickstarter goes live
Since you’re not the author, im going to give more thoughts.
I don’t understand the videos. There is no enthusiasm being communicated here. That ukulele music eats away at the energy you need to rally enthusiasm.
Also, the biggest perk of these machines are the price- the sound demos in there are not the best and are buried. The video maker bombards the viewer with a ton of details that aren’t relevant yet.
Sound demos in the beginning, make it awesome, and then the perks of the machine can act as supplementary pitches.
Its a shame, because there are stylish touches to the videos- but man, is it not enough to counter the ukulele and pre-loading specs to anyone curiously checking out the gear
Wait a minute…you can DO that?!
Uggh AI text to voice in the videos killed it for me.
And Im not at all down with the cutesy cat girlboy ukelele Like Im supposed to know what that chip is deal.
This gear looks very difficult to use, imo.
no physical buttons or battery
🤷
Interesting, and I think a lot of this will depend on the feel in the hands and when pressing those buttons.
Does “sync” mean MIDI? Probably but then… I couldn’t find any mention to “MIDI”.
Does “USB” mean USB audio? Probably not, but since they have a port…
Lack of battery, yeah, hm. Well, it’s a competition of space (volume), complexity in R&D, price, and maybe a bunch of country-specific laws too. If you can power it with the USB cable and, say, your mobile phone or any (just any) consumer power bank, then it’s still quite portable.
I’m going to repeat myself…
That ukulele makes absolutely no sense to me.
Going through the process of developing a couple of musical pieces. Going through the process of having a site made, making videos, making a Kickstarter campaign…but you couldn’t be bothered to make a soundtrack for your videos using the gear you should be intimately familiar with- opting instead to use some free domain loop playing throughout nearly the entire video?
Gets right on my tits.
And the AI voices, the cats, the boys and basically all of it.
Grumpy old git mode fully engaged.
The aesthetic themes in the ad. The cheers, the mascots, etc I actually went for. It was used just shy of the ad actually having an identity(even if that identity didn’t jive with you).
I’ve just been absolutely neurotic about advertising and outreach- whiteboarding emails i send out and the most effective way of establishing a purpose for the product and how to tie it to peoples desires in a succient way.
And that these advertising videos just feel so loose(again, using a free domain soundtrack to market your product…if only there were something you could use to make a soundtrack for the product you’re trying to sell)
Or hey! Maybe a bit sketchy, but at least use a VST synth and/or sampler- something synthetic to score the synth and drum machine you’re trying to sell.
The product has promise, I think- but im absolutely baffled by the advertisement, the cherry on top of finally completing what must have been a substantial amount of work, not trying to find multiple ways to create the desire.
If there are any other forum members that are trying to create something to sell- hire me to create your marketing material! This has been the second gear unveiling I’ve seen on this forum that air-balled the promotional material.
FU- crud
i couldn’t watch the vid thanks to that uke loop ![]()
i assume the other vid has cutesy whistling
I agree with most people here: the brand aesthetics are a big ol’ yikes to me. It all feels like a Banggood shop trying to disguise as a boutique shop and you can see right through the lacquer.
Honestly, beyond the instruments themselves, the form of these presentations makes it feel… untrustworthy to me.
Worse. Its the same uke loop
