Last couple weeks I research 19" rackmount synths and FX processors. Before that I didn’t noticed some of them had so much multi-timbrality especially in the way when some of them also had drums.
I already have some cheap but functional sound processors from Behringer, Alesis and DBX (5u overall).
Also I understand that it’s another expensive rabbit hole, especially rackmount synths and romplers.
Romplers years were unique era and some synths in that format was unique too.
There are two main reasons I heavily looked at these synths and romplers: 1) pianos and strings most realistic in romplers, 2) some synths or romplers can be self contained with bass and drums. 3) some presets are still iconic.
Main problems: 1) they are rare and rather expensive in country where I live, 2) very hard to find expansion cards, 3) it’s not new units it can work not very long , 4) it’s heavy and not for backpack live concerts.
What I’d like to talk about: what minimum modules I need if i need first of all: realistic pianos, realistic cinematic strings, maybe some realistic orchestral timbres, some iconic pop presents like in JV1080, and 1-2 multi FX with complex delays. And could I find it without expansion cards?
