I swear I saw Clips for one of the packs, but I’m not finding that anymore. The clips were just samples saved as clips.
None of the Clips containing devices and midi notes have been showing up, and none of the user clips show up.
You can’t move scenes.
You can copy and paste clips, so they can be moved around. You can also create new scenes with what is playing using Duplicate (in scene mode) or Duplicate+Shift (in Clip mode)
Edit: Forgot to mention, that’s one of my favorite packs! I don’t use the clips, but it’s a fun set of kits (Drum Racks).
Well, I love this thing. It’s serving a very particular need for me, specifically as a box that can allow me to take my disparate songs and perform them from a single source.
I’ve been wanting to create a live set for so long, but the process of compiling a set of songs, plus being able to mentally juggle the performance parameters, has made it daunting. Using the Push 3, I created clips for all the different parts of a bunch of songs, put them all into a single file, added macros for performance templates, added a synth with effects for lead/melody work, and ship all the audio to a mixer for filtering, effect sends, etc.
I started by building the whole thing in the box, testing as I went on the P3 in controller mode. On Saturday I exported the 11-song set to the P3 and started running in standalone. It’s working without a hitch. I’m in love. I still need to make a couple of amendments, but I’ve got a gig next month and I feel like I’m finally ready to play.
I’ll be recording the set today or tomorrow and I’ll post it here. Really pleased with the results.
All this to say: the P3S has flaws, no doubt, but it’s allowing me to do what I’ve never been able to do before, and that feels amazing.
Firmware updates, authorization, pack downloads and even sync via Link can all be done over Wi-Fi.
Computer needed for transferring existing Live sets, or if you want to continue working on a set in Live that was started on Push. There are also some parameters and features that are currently only available in Live, but not accessible on Push 3. I’m hoping that will change over time so Stand-alone could be used more independently.
I haven’t tried attaching a hard drive, but as far as I know, it’s not supported.
I don’t know if that’s something they’ve considered, but I hope they will.
You can still resample, but definitely not the same thing as exporting stems, or even a single track of the set without needing to import in to Live first.
“this is something we have seen more often, and we found the (software) culprit, luckily. There is a fix in place, and we will soon release an update with a fix”
I wrote the above note way back on May 26 about not receiving the proper US power plug when I received my Push 3. Well, 30 days later Ableton has delivered – got my official Push 3 plug in the mail today!
Anyhow, a month in I’m still enjoying the Push 3. Lot’s of room for improvement, but it’s been a great tool for expressive playing and capturing spontaneous ideas. I’m only now starting to integrate it with my other gear in a more serious way – finally setup my ADAT interface, etc. I’m looking forward to being along for the ride…
@papertiger I ordered the Critter & Guitari mic, and I ordered the Rode Podmic USB/XLR to try out.
Both of these have their own preamp built in.
Obviously these are very different mics.
I really am only interested in voice, percussion and occasional sound effect recording so I think I can get by with both of these. I don’t need pristine for how I’m expecting to use them.
I’m not certain at all that I can get the Rode mic to work well with Push, but I want to try just in case.
I thought I’d mention now just in case anyone else is also looking at different mics to pair with Push… now you can test something different!
A new beta has come out and unlike the previous one it includes a firmware update. It also includes a touchstrip fix. I have not had a chance to try it yet.
Can someone remind me what the firmware version was showing up as in the software tab of settings on the standalone Push. I installed the latest beta and it did a firmware update, but the version number for the firmware doesnt match what the release notes say - I am tentatively assuming the release notes got the firmware version number wrong but I want to check what the firmware version was for people who havent installed todays beta. Thanks.
Might have to try installing the update for Push seperately?
I’m not at my computer so can’t try but put Push in Standalone, choose the settings/cog button (top left) and at the far right of the Push display it’ll have he option to update.
Thanks, the standalone update procedure is very specific and I’ve done it properly both with the initially available beta and todays beta 2.
Anyway it turns out the firmware did update, its just they mention a version 1.2.0 in the release notes and I think thats a mistake in that documentation. I just wanted to check that my firmware version number has at least changed compared to what it was before today, and indeed it has.
Didn’t know this was a bug (Push 2 had similar behavior) but this is great
When using Hot-Swap Mode to swap an empty pad after swapping a non-empty pad, the browser will now open back in the same location it was open for the preceding, non-empty pad.
Can anyone confirm this works? I won’t be able to download, install and play around until later today. Excited though!
Found this thread from @elxsound and wow, didn’t expect such a good push 3 thread on this forum! Refreshing compared to other places on the internet. I’m a push 3 standalone owner (and a syntakt/digitakt owner as well), owned push 1 and 2 each since day 1 launch (still have them both!) and looking forward to contributing here if I can. I’ve been blessed with (at this point) a push 3 with no pad, knob, touch strip, or any other hardware issue that I can find. I haven’t hooked it up to the computer yet just because I’ve had so fun using a push like it was always meant to be used, imo.
