Push 3 Users Thread

Hi there,

I posted this on the Ableton forum but thought that maybe I’d have more luck here.

Maybe I’m being dumb and missing something really obvious, but could someone tell me how to set the global quantisation amount directly on Push 3 standalone?

I can’t seem to find it in the manual, or by searching on the forum, or even on Google.

To be more specific. I mean the quantisation menu, (the one that’s to the right of the metronome in the desktop software) I am trying to change the global launch quantisation

Many thanks

Hey Glasside,

I believe this is something they’ve added to the Push 3 Stand-alone Public Beta (which I just installed yesterday).

It’s accessible by holding the metronome button, and then you can change the global launch using the 5th encoder.

If you’re on the regular release and it doesn’t come up when holding the metronome button, then it’s a work in progress to add it (or you could join the public beta).

Thanks so much… coincidentally I joined the beta today but hadn’t installed it yet.

I’ll give that a go now…

Much appreciated…

(How did I know this would get answered quicker here than on Ableton🤷‍♂️)!

So has anybody found a nice cover for the Push 3 yet?

My preference would be something like these felt ones for the Push 2:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/1321792843/felt-protect-ableton-push-2-dust-cover

I’m definitely getting one when they’re available.

For me, keeping this portable between rooms means a decksaver would be awkward.

Hopefully they will add it to their listing soon.

Oh something like that would be perfect!

Dang - I must have missed this addition in the release notes. Might be worth giving the beta a try for it…

How has the beta been for you? Running smoothly?

I know you didn’t ask me, but hey, I’m human, I have opinions too you know.

I have a few hours on the beta, and so far mostly good. I found a bug, which I have reported, with the melodic +32 split sequencer. But besides that, so far so good.

Also, I haven’t tested it, but it looks like they fixed the bug you mentioned, about deleting a pack and free space not showing up. I think I saw that in the notes.

And if you don’t like the beta for whatever reason, you can switch back by downloading and installing the original firmware.

So far just one un-reproducible crash using mute-lock on multiple tracks, while switching scenes.

I’m going to take another stab at reproducing it, but it was great to see the auto save/backup work since I liked the changes I made.

My same sets opened in the beta.

I should have transferred them first just to be sure, so I’d advise anyone to do that, because it’s obviously a beta!

It’s also possible to switch back to the regular release if needed.

The file was more than 2gigs, and took a while to transfer, but it was an easy process.

Ha ha ha, look at this funny guy doing the laughing jokes. Ha ha ha. I have to go reset my code, I mean…get a beer, like a human does.

Mmmm….hamburgers.

I just finished my taxes, like a human would do. Who wants to drink a Cosmo in a Manhattan nightclub like we all do frequently as humans? Rebooting…I mean, reordering a round for us all.

Because some of the Ableton mods are a bit precious and banned a few that used to help a lot, myself included. (reason because I reported a few spamming posts they didnt like it as caused extra work for them) So I don’t visit there at all now.

Much more helpful around other places, here included.

Actually good to know - thanks… The precious thing drives me nuts…

This is my go to forum even for other gear. Best community.

Where are other good forums for Live/Push?

I haven’t - I am still waiting for a replacement unit

It makes it less standalone, but something that delivers phantom power inline would fix the gain make up. In the far future I would like to try switching to an RE20 as my main dynamic mic.

Am I missing something, or can’t you browse Clips in the Push?

For instance, if I install the old Kutmasta breaks pack, where can I find the actual breaks?

EDIT: Also, can you move clips in the scene view, somehow? or complete scenes?

(I’m finding the manual a bit cumbersome, tried to search for each of these there…)

Does standalone require a computer for anything? Can firmware updates be performed via Wi-Fi? Could I hook an external hard drive to import/export files? Thanks.
