This could be related to setting the push volume out to zero on your computer while push is in controller mode.
On mac, you can do this by selecting push as audio interface with the speaker button at the top of the screen and adjust push’s volume.
When there is no audio out on push, please check audio tab in setup. You should see sample rate n buffer settings. Are they visible when push’s audio is not working?
Have you tried to see if the Mac is recognising how much power is being requested by Push by looking at the Mac USB port that it’s connected to? That might help determine if Push’s usb port is functioning as normal.
Go to the Apple menu > About This Mac > System Report (at the bottom of the dialogue that pops up).
Then click USB from the left sidebar to get information about the USB port’s power.
Select the USB device to view details. You should see the following information:
Current Available: How much power the port that the USB device is connected to can provide. It will show current available, and current required on each relevant port.
This is what I get with Push 2 connected to my Mac and no DC power attached to Push (just through USB power). That doesn’t change even if I attach the DC power to Push. You should be getting something from Current Required instead of 0.
I might not be getting anywhere here but I do appreciate the help!
I’m still holding out some hope that this is a MacBook OS issue of some sort playing funny games with whatever Push 3 is trying to tell the Mac when connected. But who knows!
It’sa shame it don’t have another machine I can try out easily. I suppose if could try my kids pc tomorrow though he doesn’t have a usb c port on the thing. Can always try other cables though
It’s not too bad. It’s not like it’s arrived and it’s bricked - I’ve been able to use it and it’s great. But…. Not having the single cable thing is a big deal and triggering some inner OCD vibes
Can anyone tell me how long the cable from push to MacBook is? This would be the usb c so I can use it controller mode. Just doing some measuring in the studio.
How do you remove an insert effect from an instrument? Say I have an instance of Drift and then I add an 8 channel EQ to it. Now I decide I don’t want the EQ in the chain anymore - how do I completely remove it? Can not figure it out.
How are people liking this after the first few days? Specifically, if you’re used to Elektron machines, how do you feel about getting going on a track, and moving around?
I have a Push 2 which I love for certain things, but when I want to sequence samples, or just lay down a quick drum track as a fancy metronome, I still find it quicker to switch on the Digitakt.
I’m getting the same as you with the USB readings and my push won’t even switch into controller mode (I have standalone) with Ableton. Even when plugged in to DC power. I have tried a different CalDigit cable and same thing, tried restarting, reinstalling the latest Live beta. I’m on an M1 Mac.
I’ll contact support too. It could be related I guess … works great in Standalone at least!
Mine is being delivered today, so I will share some feedback this afternoon. But I think I would answer right now that my expectations will stay the same as it was with Push 2. That being, Elektron is faster/more immediate because of fewer actions. Ableton is deeper, so by default, I think that makes it have a slower starting speed.
