Same is true for Roar and Wavetable. I opened a bug report and they confirmed it’s an issue so hopefully a fix is coming soon. In the meantime, a workaround is to add everything to the mod matrix on the computer (make sure a mod source is assigned to each item – I assigned pitch bend since I don’t use it), save as a preset, and copy the preset to Push.
I had the same problem in the beta at first. you need to connect it in controller mode and then go into standalone and “add to matrix” works again in meld, roar and wavetable…at least that works for me now…
Magic, thanks for that!
That might have been me. I even hooked up an audio interface and used that.
sorry for basically double posting what you wrote…I read your post after I wrote more…for me it works without assigning anything. I just have to have not hooked up in controller mode, then go back to standalone and whoops…I can add tom matrix to my hearts content…
You got it working with an audio interface?
Yes, the Push 3’s USB-A port works like a USB hub for the Mac, so whatever you plug into the Push works with the Mac.
To be clear, the Push itself doesn’t work directly with the audio interface
right. You got me excited for a minute there.
I’ve got about a 0.25 second MIDI lag that I can’t solve. Did you ever get any feedback about this?
I put my models and a td3 with usb midi and adjusting the midi sync on push preferences working fine.
Same here, and it happens randomly. For me this issue goes away with a hard reset. I’ll be putting in a support ticket today.
I just discovered that I have no MIDI lag in Control Mode. My standalone mode MIDI lag is totally invariant, so I can compensate by nudging -18%, but that’s a totally undesirable workflow and not even possible for the first beat of the first measure wtf. It seems I’m getting forced away from standalone, making all those reviews recommending holding off on the upgrade sound smart. I must admit that, without going into all the details, I’m finding overall that standalone isn’t more desirable than Control Mode even aside from the MIDI lag issue. Is there even anyone who wholeheartedly embraces standalone over Control Mode?
Control Mode, however, does not fix the note transmission order issue: a 12-note stack that transmits lowest-to-highest gets re-ordered in an unpredictable way when those notes are copied to another step. Manual entry of notes also doesn’t help. In terms of musical time, there’s no issue: the music sounds as expected. That means the notes don’t get re-ordered at the level of milliseconds but at the level of microseconds. I assume that’s a “don’t care” issue from a programming standpoint because does anyone care about notes being moved by an imperceptible microsecond amount? It messes up my Terra tuning, though, because Terra tunes its 12 sensor in the order the notes are received. The best I’m able to do is one 12-note chord per clip, but then I lose rhythmic changes of harmony and have to rely on scene changes for that, which really diminishes the usability.
I can raise a ticket, I guess, but won’t Ableton see this level of note orderability more as a feature request than a bug fix? If anyone can think of another use case justifying predictable or user-settable micro-ordering of notes, that would raise the value of it in Ableton’s eyes.
Hapax (and other hardware sequencers) just always schedule their notes from lowest to highest. I’d like to have more flexibility than that, but I’d at least value predictability.
ADDED: Going back to standalone, I no longer have the MIDI lag. I wonder if toggling Control Mode will always successfully clear the lag. I’ll keep that in mind if the lag returns.
ADDED 2: I think I’ve solved my need for predictable MIDI note ordering for simultaneous notes. It does seem that nudge works here in the predictable way: put all twelve notes on precisely the same beat, then nudge each one an additional 2% so that the nudge value (2% - 24%) determines the MIDI Tx order, while the Push and my Terra both perceive them as all occurring on the same beat. It takes work to enter the values, but that’s a one-time thing because once I have a library of 12-note chords, I can copy and paste to tune the Terra any time. It’s a pretty narrow use case, I guess.
Is anyone suffering the “play clip, press warp, ableton crashes” bug? I’ve tried the betas but they’re the same. Is this widespread?
I don’t get crashes anymore on the later betas. But pressing warp seems to mostly half the sample instead. Although doesn’t always happen. I think the only way to get a good result is to convert the sample to a simpler track and go from there warping and set the first beat seems to work and is more intuitive.
Hot swap sample not working - Have a drum kit loaded. Highlight a pad I want to swap. Hit the hot swap button. Browse to the sample I want to replace with. Now do I hit Load by the top of the screen? Or do I hit the hot swap button again? Do I hold the pad and hit hot swap? Do I press the jog wheel? I’ve tried all of this. Doesn’t work. Or maybe hot swapping samples is not a function?
It is and it works. However you need to make sure you are not just selecting a pad but are also focusing on the pad’s note tab so, select a pad, then select the pad’s note with the top display button. Then press hit swap and load a different sound. Just select absorbs and press the encoder.
Not behind the push right now but I think focusing on the pad’s note like that was sufficient. Otherwise focus on the instrument on said paid by pressing the corresponding top display button.
I noticed that Wavetable nice way of setting a line in the Matrix isn’t working anymore. You just had to touch an encoder and press “Add to Matrix” to set a modulation line, but now the “Add to Matrix” button isn’t lit anymore, nor accessible.
Yeah
I saw this mentioned either here or on center code. I happen to have not used wavetable since I updated to the latest stable release so I haven’t seen it for myself but it’s a major bummer.
It’s a known bug(in the beta). Works when you put it in controller mode and go back to standalone…also works for meld and roar…
Anyone sending analog clock and transport from P3S to other gear?
How is it working for you?
