Would be great with a hybrid adat 8io interface mixed with a patchbay functionality on top
If you can find two, you can also link them over AVB and user the internal DSP for mixdown into the ADAT inputs.
So it won’t work then for Push 3 surely? This is for connecting ADAT to a USB host.
Push 3 already has ADAT. And it does not support audio over USB currently.
This definitely looks like the best option when you want to keep things compact. I can only find rack gear and no compact options.
Has anyone found something else like this ?
You connect the iPad to the USB port and it’s 8in/8out of the iPad via adat.
bored brain optx for eurorack
pretty sure it accept line lvl
Saw this earlier and it looks great. I’m only interested in inputs unfortunately
Nice but yeah eurorack. going to put it on the list for possible eurorack options though
I was wondering about that. Could be a good option if it does
You can use it for that afaik
i have some adat ports ready for the new push
if you want something with adat flexibility and super flexible routing and monitoring from my research nothing beats the metric halo lio-8. better upgrade path than RME too, you don’t have to ditch your entire interface because of one port
Oh really? Guess I didn’t read well enough then. That’s awesome
Hmm maybe I’m confused it does say outputs specifically. But also that it can be used to mix in your daw
Yeah, I was thinking to write them and ask. Would be great if it works
Yeah this could be a winner if you have a spare 8hp in a rack and it does in fact take line level. Luckily I just built a little utility rack with a Moog 60hp case and an Intellijel TPS mini power board I had lying around. Otherwise a 4ms Pod 20 with power for 99 bucks is probably the next best option.
I’m still eyeing the Motu 8A, seems pretty portable and rugged, plus its an interface when you need it to be. But 1) its more expensive by a lot, and 2) they’re unobtanium at the moment.
I believe another good 8x8 i/o solution should be the Scarlettt Octopre. Feel free to let me know if I am off. I am thinking about that plus a patchbay as I have a studio side desk where I can put my push and some hardware. Since I can record in without needing to have my laptop connected to my main desk interface for sound, this seems like a really awesome and simple recording setup
I believe this is only for analog inputs to ADAT, correct? The analog outs are passthrough. But it seems like a good option for recording. Except it has those two inputs on the front, which are less ideal for a patchbay but thats a minor issue.
Yeah I would just track in synths and drum machines and then have the outs in case I wanted to send to a sampler maybe.
Maybe use the pre for a vocal mic, and yes you are right about the 2 inputs on the front. Not a huge deal, still only 6 in back.
I could track down another used RME ADI8, that thing is awesome and has everything in the back. It is a bit more expensive, but rock solid.
Are you looking for more than Line ins? I am still learning the ADAT expansion market so I am open to learning what else can be done with it.
RME Digiface with a Ferrofish Pulse will give you 16 I/O from the Ferrofish and the RME Digiface has 4 ADAT I/O which gives you a total of 32 I/O channels. The magic with this is the routing in RME Totalmix which can be any configuration you need which really makes combining this with Push 3 all really appealing. I bought my Digiface for £250, and the Pulse for £550 used a few years back. Ferrofish has historically released earlier versions of 16I/O ADATS including the Ferrofish A16 Ae, MKII Ultra, Creamware A16 and SonicCore A16 so worth keeping an eye out for used as all meant to be solid ADAT units.
I guess regarding ADAT we are looking for 2 diff scenarios. Some want for studio so happy with a rack and some want a better size for live which is more tricky
That portable one posted earlier looked ideal except the analogs are outputs
