Price increase

Almost certainly has to do with the tariffs in the US. CAD pricing went up $100 over a month ago to $1449 but hasn’t changed since. The new USD pricing comes out to $1602 CAD.

It likely has nothing to do with where the components are sourced from and everything to do with US tariffs.

Thomann is still at 975 Euro for a DN2. Use what you have  Get a 2nd hand DN1 and be happy.

While supplies last. It’s already €1099 direct from Elektron (so looks like everyone is going to pay to rebalance the US trade “win”)

Yeah, time to create some more fomo.

FOMO would be reminding that unless something changes from Mr. flip flop flip flop, the EU is scheduled to be hit with another 10% tariff in July.

I don’t think we can predict anything at all. For the moment, bad children have taken over the nursery.

This is just so fucking unfair. Everyone loses in this shit show, but I find it so frustrating that as a European, I have to pay more for a product from a European country because a racist in the US decided to shut off the US from European products. I’d prefer Elektron and every other company to just slap the tariffs on to US customers instead of making the rest of the world pay for the stupid decisions a majority of US voters made.

What?? Why?? Who decided that the rest of the world pays for this shit?

I guess I won’t buy anymore products (new).

Also honestly… I’m fed up with everything. Probably will skip the next 4 generations of electronic devices. So I guess 10-15 years no new products. Instead I’ll invest into myself, music theory, books, knowledge.

“All I’m saying is that a young Elektronaut doesn’t need 37 machines… I don’t think that a beautiful baby girl needs — that’s 11 years old — needs to have 30 machines. I think they can have three machines or four machines because what we were doing with China was just unbelievable.”

I’m not convinced that we will have to pay more though.

Let’s say Elektron products contain chips produced in China or Taiwan. If the US places tariffs on products from China or Taiwan, then there will be less demand from the US for those products. That may then lead to greater supply of those products, and hence push prices down to the rest of the world due to this greater supply.

That may then mean that Europeans pay less for goods that are assembled in Europe, but made from individual components produced elsewhere in the world (other than components produced in the US). So, US tariffs may make things cheaper for us.

Unless I’m missing something?

I think that the tariff discussion and associated discussions should be limited to the tariff thread, which I’ve muted.

I don’t want to have to also mute the price increase thread where I can simply learn about price increases.

I don’t see how how putting huge tariffs on boutique products from specialized product manufacturers helps bring jobs back to good ol 'merica.
Unless we are going to start seeing cheap knock offs of all our favorite instruments.

I was looking for that thread the other day, but it is gone. I was trying to figure out how much of a duty I’d have to pay for a pro audio item from Switzerland to the US. I’m going to wait since they’re supposedly next for trade talks with the US. I wish that thread wasn’t removed.

InMusic recently bought Moog, so Moogs aren’t all made in Asheville like they used to be.

100%.

Although I think this was a strategy. Like little sugars to people like you and me and then adjust prices. Also their evil twin “Teenage Engineering” are just cracy with their pricing and I’m sure it somewhat affected pricing of Elektron products. A tiny bit.

I’d answer with 100000% tariff for US products. That’s the language that man in charge speaks, right? Or what about 10 billlllion percent – I bet he doesn’t even know how many 0s are in 10 billions.
