Preparing for the “Octatrack in 2022” thread

Is starting an Octatrack thread in 2022 worth it?

Everyone knows the Octatrack sounds terrible.

The Octatrack is just over 10 years old now, which means it’s the worst it will ever be. It’s overused, dated, irrelevant. Not worth it. Give it 3 or 4 more years and then you can be an early adopter for when it becomes a sought after, vintage classic and experiences a revival around 2032-35. But if you get one now or keep using one you already have, you’re just out of touch.

Unless you got it in 2010 and still use the buggy, unfinished, release firmware - then you’re an OLD HEAD and will get a lot of respect around 2040.

Following up…
OK so I wasn’t expecting this, but during my transitional jam at one point the samples suddenly lost their luster. I checked the headphone connection, checked the power source, it was all good. I thought I was just tired, but then I played a similar pattern on my Digitakt and it sounded great. Checked the time, 12:13. Well, I guess that answers it!

2022, you should go with the Digitakt! Unless you want to risk it with the OT

I’m going to probably sell mine and get a vintage Behringer Tweakalizer DFX-69.

Haters will say: The OT still sounds flat to me.

Who needs another OT thread. After reading everything about the OT, now, everyone masters that device.

Earlier today I saw an old thread someplace else where people were talking about replacing the Deluge with the OT because the deluge sounded “flat” and the OT sound quality was a big improvement even though it was older.

Are we still saying the word “mangle” when refering to what the Octatrack does to samples in 2022?

Yes. Mangle is the term used due to the consensus of the 30 “OT effects are bad” threads. If the effects were better, the words “treat”, “handle”, or “process” would apply.

…meet and mangle…ur limitations.
since every day, yesterday keeps fighting against tomorrow…
while end of the day, tomorrow always wins…

That’s a proper thumb
