I submitted a ticket, thanks. I’m not very hopeful though.
Bombard with ideas and some might stick
If you guys like these ideas I keep posting, please consider thumbs up or commenting on github.
They responded that the sample packs will remain exclusive to the AE’s. Unfortunate.
I thought when you downloaded the AE projects you got the complete sample pack? I only got the Legowelt one and I assumed all the samples are there, I get that they might not all be loaded into each project but can’t you use the computer to extract all the samples?
That makes sense. Otherwise no exclusivity.
Probably there are more not used in the projects. I heard the Legowelt collection is quite large.
I’ve just gotta say, this thread is HOT!
Every time I check in…
Legowelt has like an outrageous amount of free samples on his personal web page. I crammed them all into my Tracker. I actually recognize some of the DX FM samples from a few Cenk jams because they’re so unique and recognizable. I’ll admit I never took Legowelt seriously in the past, there’s something so Spinal Tap about his synth wizard appearance, but the more time I spent on his website and listening to his tracks I’m actually a huge fan now. He recently did a live jam on YouTube and the second song is called “Twitter Man”… oh boy, do yourself a favor and go listen to that song right now!!
I have the Legowelt AE and the extra sample pack is HUGE. Lots of really useable stuff too. I sometimes feel like using other people’s samples is cheating though. Like, if I don’t use my own samples, can I really say it’s my song? I don’t know, that’s just me. I have no problem with anyone else using whatever samples they want.
I sometimes feel this as well. It’s a pretty grey area for me. My thinking is, if it’s just a one-shot synth then it’s basically a synth preset, and if a piano or guitar sound was defined as a “preset” then we’d all have a hard time constantly reinventing standard sounds rather than just making music. And as they are samples as such they can be endlessly manipulated beyond the said synthesizer’s normal capabilities. I love sound design and am constantly creating patches for synths I have but there’s something to be said for Legowelt essentially providing his entire synth cave for free in sample form, I mean, there’s no way I’ll ever afford to own all those classic instruments. I dunno. I think it’s fine
Same. Especially one shots. It’s a personal hangup that I sometimes forget about that I need to move past. I think you’ve got the right idea. I really dig his stuff now, I used to not.
Did Polyend make them smaller as well as lighter with the version 3 revision?
This is the specs from their current website:
- Height (w/ knob): 1.3 inch (3.3 cm)
- Width: 11.02 inches (28.2 cm)
- Depth: 8.15 inches (20.7 cm)
- Weight: 2.65 pounds (1.2 kg)
This is what Thomann has (from memory the same size/weight as the original)
- Dimensions: 357 x 245 x 16 mm
- Weight: 2 kg
Strangely, those dimensions are exactly the same as a 16 inch MacBoo Pro, which I remember finding really odd.
Actually it looks like it may have just been an error. The size/weight changed on the Polyend website sometime between April 2020 and July 2020.
I guess the retailers just picked up the original dimensions and ran with them.
April 2020:
July 2020:
of course it is
Thanks!
I’ve come across some really annoying bugs lately.
Most notably: Most often after starting the tracker, drums in my first sample slots - most of the time the kick, but also snare and hats - turned into some shrill high noise. The waveform of the samples is totally messed up, without doing anything to them. Happened also while using it. Happened a few times on latest os, but happens now frequently on latest beta.
I have to swap the samples with the original samples from the card each time. Quite frustrating.
Yesterday while loading samples from sd card, the tracker suddenly froze completely, but with an annoying loud continous tone. You have to watch your ears with this thing.
Anyone encountered one of these things?
Will write a bug report later…
I had the loud continuous tone thing last night, but I was setting up a LFO, I set a finetune LFO up, then without leaving the LFO page tried to go to set up a volume one, whilst changing the first column LFO target page, it just did the tone and locked up, I had to remove power then it was ok on rebooting, I was able to set the LFO.
I can’t figure out how to display all 8 tracks at once in the pattern view. I’ve seen a condensed 8 track view (without FX1 and FX2) in videos but how do you switch views?
Hold pattern, press note or fx or instrument.
hold pattern button and select the colums you want to display
