Polyend Tracker

Damn. I don’t want to send it back. Juno didn’t even reply when I complained that no USB cable was included. What are they going to be like now after 30 days have gone by? Gah!

Edit: it’s less than 30 days. I’m going to contact them now. I’ll report back anything useful.

They sell those cables for a whopping $24…I would have been bummed!

Yeah right! I’ve reported the unit as faulty to Juno. So hopefully they’ll reply after Easter and give me a replacement unit soon after that :crossed_fingers:

Edit: the more I think about it, the more I think I was given a B-stock. The lack of USB cable is odd to say the least. So maybe my unit was already returned but whoever had it didn’t report it as faulty. So annoying. I absolutely love it otherwise. I need it in my life.

I wasn’t clear in my post and @craig summed it up nicely by saying when moving the wheel fast ‘sometimes the values hardly move, sometimes they go in the opposite direction’. This is exactly what is happening with my Tracker - it’s not that moving it fast skips ahead, it’s that it doesn’t move at all and sometimes they go the opposite way. I have a Virus B with a dodgy encoder that does the exact same thing, but it’s not such a big deal on that because it’s only one of the many knobs… With the Tracker it’s kinda the main ‘chooser’ so to speak. :stuck_out_tongue:

That said if it doesn’t get any worse I can live with it. If it does get worse I’m taking it to my electronics engineer friend to get fixed… He’s repairing my dodgy MIDI Fighter Twister tomorrow, good lad.

@olafmol is right. Also, I’m pretty sure that it was confirmed as a hardware related issue by Polyend in GitHub (don’t quote me on this.)

I hope you’re able to get a new unit, but if it doesn’t work out, then you can always fortify your current unit’s lifespan by replacing it with a better encoder!

The braided Polyend usb cable and plug are both branded so you can’t mix them up with any other toys cable. Also the cable is quite generous in length, you really would enjoy the benefit…
Besides, it should be included so it’s a matter of principle, hope you get sorted out a brand new device real soon!

Looks like the 3 limited editions are now available to order. Pete Cannon edition looks like a C64. €200 more than the standard black. Comes with an album.

They certainly aren’t worth an extra $200 IMO, but I don’t really own gear for it’s collectibility… that being said I would be really into the Cannon or Raczynski versions if they were solid colors (without the added graphics.)

Are they skins?

I like the look of the Pete Cannon C64 model, except for ‘Pete Cannon’ emblazoned across the front like a pair of boxer briefs with ‘Calvin Klein’ in huge letters.

I apologize if this is too risqué for here:

Too risque… ? Its a man and a woman looking at each other… Don’t apologise. Don’t be afraid we’re all adults.

On topic. Not worth the extra 200 at all.
I really dislike ‘collector card’ editions of equipment.

So true, and from what I read, ‘Ashley’ is the man’s tax preparer. She’s just consoling him after he lost everything in the stock market, including the shirt off his back.

Thats how I saw it too.

Great idea. Too bad that the name of the artist is so prominent. I like the C64-version. Maybe they will consider producing special editions by graphic/product designers and leave the name badge to a place where you don’t see it

It’s mtb time for me again and most of my thoughts are on rides, bikes and parts, but spotted these new ltd editions in an email this morning and popped by to see if there’s any further info.

Would have loved the Pete Cannon version, but I also love the one I have and not sure it’s worth 200 euros more to me tbh, but if they ever do skins and artist packs as an extra then i’d be interested.

Nice pieces of artwork though. If I had serious money i’d probably buy all 3 without ever hearing Bogdan’s work, just because colours and sounds can change my moods. I’ve already mounted a few of my old snowboards on the wall because of the artwork and the best thing is, I can soon take them off to ride again.

These could make nice working artwork pieces too. Pick a scheme that reflects my mood and see what happens.

Everytime I read a post here about what these can’t do so they’re upset and sending them back with a strongly worded letter or something i’m always thinking but “what about what these Trackers can do”. They’ve increased my music output massively and the only thing holding some people back is themselves.

Reminds me of Sam Pilgrims channel on Youtube where he often takes a rubbish old bike, most people would scrap and then tears around technical trails, hits and skate parks on them making us think that there’s actually no excuses for not just getting out there with what we have and enjoying ourselves and stop blaming the fact that we don’t have the best bike, best piece of equipment or whetever for not being able to achieve.

Faulty gear though then send it back, but anyone should be able make some decent tunes with these if they have one in them. It’s the easiest to use piece of gear I own and my creativity has increased massively because of how easy it is to make music with one.

Finally!!! I’ve been emailing Elektron for years to release a bright yellow synth with bananas on it! Oh well - Elektron’s loss is Polyend’s gain!

The c64 model is pretty dope looking, nice and classic…. But it’s nowhere near the classic touch displayed in the “Extra Super Limited GhostCat Woodgrain Edition” :joy:

For real though, a roll of ‘cabinet liner’ sticker material is available pretty much everywhere for under 15$.

That looks so good!

I’m curious about the adhesive that you’re using. Would it cause damage to the surface of the tracker or leave a residue? Also, how do you make such accurate cuts?

Thank you! I’ve wrapped pretty much every piece of gear that I’ve owned for long enough… I guess it’s a right of passage lol?

Note: you VOID WARRANTY if you follow this method, I open the tracker to make my cuts.
(At least I assume this voids warranty)

It’s literally a giant sticker. Self Adhesive Wood Grain Furniture Stickers PVC Wallpaper cabinets Gloss Film Vinyl Counter Top Decal 15.6’‘x79’’ Amazon.com

Short answer, no.
Ymmv with different brands (there are several) but I’ve never had any residue or surface damage caused to any of the gear that I’ve wrapped (and eventually unwrapped, obviously). I’ve used 3m dinoc, and probably 10 different brands found at Walmart or target or a random hardware store. This one I found at a dollar store. Wrap at your own risk, but I’ve never had anything bad happen.

I took the top lid off of the tracker, layed the sticker on nice and flat, and then just exacto knifed my way around each cutout from the back side…It’s as easy as tracing along a ruler, just time consuming. (The screen is fixed very well to the lid and is the only spot this method won’t work) just be verrrrry careful to not cut your screen.
