Polyend Tracker

I think it’s not possible ATM, but that would be awesome!

instead, if there’s silence on a track before the first event, this silence gets truncated in rendering, making it impossible to align the stems in a daw to have them play in sync

Yikes. The stem export really draws me in as a guy who sometimes has to spend 45 minutes bouncing eight Octatrack tracks in batches of two before i can start polishing and adding parts in my DAW.

Hi everyone,
Have some of you tried to command elektron gear with the Tracker ?
I would like to slave my MD song mode and send it Tracker’s Song Pointer Position, but I don’t know if the Tracker is capable of this.
It seems SPP isn’t something you have to set up in a machine (except setting transport and clock out on both machine perhaphs) and it’s also very new to me.
Any ideas ?

Yeah I’d log it as a bug. Worst case it’ll get demoted to a feature request but I’d suggest it’s less than ideal

No. Not presently anyway

It may be that way to save space or at least make it easier to bounce a stem back into the sample pool.
I understand though it’s not ideal, maybe have a short pattern which triggers all tracks used once (use cut to stop samples) before the actual song, that way you can sync it easily and then just chop the front off in the DAW.

first off hey everyone, I joined just to partake in this thread. happy to be an elektronaut

now on the quote reply…

I have a Tracker as the center of my setup, with a Digitone, ZOIA, and Erica DB-01 down the chain. in my opinion, you don’t gain A LOT by sequencing an elektron box from Tracker. I happen to like both sequencers a lot, and I prefer the elektron sequencer for some things — for instance, the 1:2 conditional trig.

so I have Tracker sending clock and transport to my DN only, then my DN controlling the DB-01 fully on a MIDI track. the DN goes through ZOIA, but I tend to like shaping my sound right on the box and don’t find myself using ZOIA much these days, haha! I think when my 1010 Bluebox comes I I will have a dedicated out/in loop going through ZOIA so I can send any channel through it.

but so this setup gives me 8 tracks straight up on the Tracker with the ability to let the DN sequence itself and the DB-01. this lets me maximize the number of tracks I have available with my gear.

I also currently have the DN going ultimately into the Trackers line in so I can control it via Perform Mode, which is VERY GOOD and IMO should be talked about more often! (edit: this was a mistake. Perform Mode is indeed VERY GOOD but cannot control Line In audio.)

dunno if anyone is still looking for a Tracker, or if they are still hard to find in North America, but i saw that there are some brand new ones available on Amazon (via Chicago Music Exchange).

i‘ve tried starting with a clap on step 1 for all tracks – doesn‘t work though as songs are still rendered pattern per pattern.

good point about cropping for re-importing…

Oh tits!

WARNING!!!
Polyend tracker is a gateway.
The emulator is a gateway.
CajoNES is a gateway.

Beware of the ‘8bit’ spiral yall.

Do you have a verdict on the Liven yet? It’s inevitable that I’ll get one at some point.

the Liven is great. I got mine a few weeks ago. You get a wide range of sounds out of it and it’s a joy to tinker with. There’s a bit of button-combo hunting early on (like an Elektron), but the P-Locks work well and can be globally bypassed.
for the money, it’s a very good instrument due to the amount of sounds you can get out of a single track of the sequencer. it’s very plastic, but it also weighs nothing compared to my other gear. I’ll pack this in my bag once we can travel again. My only gripe is the AC adapter cable should be a little longer.

Only a few hours in, already loving it. @PAPANOONGAKU said it best. All I can add at this point is that it pairs well with the tracker… I’ll give my two cents and some tunes in the Liven8 thread soon.

Nice. It seems to offer quite a bit for the price. I’m also a sucker for 8-bit/chiptune stuff. Looking forward to your future posts.

This was just recording4 tracks with midi coming from my PC. External drums and only mixed for levels.

And this which I made to quickly send to a friend.

Can you explain this a little further? I thought the performance effects can only be applied to the 8 tracks and the line is separate like on the DN.

Hi all,

I am still enjoying the Tracker ! but there’s one thing that I haven’t managed to do properly and that is midi sequencing my external synths (SH-01A and Ju-06A) and then particular chords.
I am a keyboard player, so I need my chords playing to be unquantized and real live. Of course you have the midi-chord sequencing on the PT but that doesn’t feel quite the same.

So I was thinking, to buy a Keystep Pro, then sequence my external synths realtime on that.
But does anybody know how easy it is to trigger the patterns on the Keystep Pro from the PT?
(I don’t know If you can trigger scenes on the Keystep Pro from the PT, that would be very awesome)

anybody any experience ?

thanks a lot !

So if I read it right you have to change pattern at both Tracker and Digitone right ?
If so, it doesn’t seem convenient in a live performance context.
But maybe you only have one pattern per song on your Digitone ?
I also have a Digitone, I haven’t thought about feeding the Tracker line in with it but it’s a great idea, especially combined with perform mode !

sorry, i definitely misspoke here. you’re correct. i was confused when i commented, that’s MY bad!

for Line In, you can vol/mute/solo as well as sidechain when playing live and i think that’s it. if you use a Track to control your MIDI instrument, and that instrument is routed into Line In, then you can Perform FX it while monitoring.
