Polyend Tracker

Interesting to read everyones comments, especially those who have had the PT for a while, or coming back to it. It’s clear the PT is definitely an awesome black box of joy :). I know I would have a ton of fun using it… I just don’t want to start hitting a wall with the limitations, or getting frustrated with the seemingly many bugs.

the upcoming M8 is ticking the synth box, but as much I’ve done a bit of lsdj gameboy tracking in the past, sequencing full tracks and songs on a handheld device may be just that little bit too fiddly.

While waiting for the Polyend to come back in stock I’ve been getting into Renoise. Wondering if there are any Renoise users here and thoughts on the Polyend Tracker? Obviously the PT has the selling point of freeing you from the computer, but Renoise seems to have so much of what a good tracker has.

Just don’t want to be disappointed, if the PT seems like a scaled down version in a box, when 90% of the features exist in Renoise.

As far as I can make out, the granular and wavetable doesn’t exist natively within Renoise, and also it lacks the excellent pattern Fill the PT has. BUT Renoise has unlimited tracks, stereo sampling, and a ton of effects, plugin support, etc. all at a fraction of the cost.

If PT had a synth engine, stereo samples, or more in terms of built in FX (does anyone here feel it’s lacking in effects?), or less buggy. I think I’d be more inclined to push the button. I may still, but the benefits have to stack up now, against both Renoise and the M8.

Any thoughts appreciated.
