still no a tracker mini videos using midi external controllers on performance mode. this one on the og tracker looks interesting.
I think he just wants to verify if others are experiencing what he unfortunately did when he got a badly built unit.
Also to be fair, your pictures do not show faults, but are also not very up close or detailed, which is exactly where the other user found the issues.
that is where maybe you might want to take my word for it ?
but if anything I can get a professional photographer to clear out the doubts…
oh well, nevertheless I like what I bought and I will not be afraid to use it.
Yeah you do that. No need for the hostile responses.
We are just trying to establish the build quality of the Tracker Mini’s sent out so far.
The defensiveness in your posts almost make it seem like you take it personal that others are discussing this topic. Which is weird because you got a good unit, then why be mean to other users who got unlucky.
I am also in no way affiliated with anything. I am a gear enthousiast that pays for everything with its hard earned cold cash.
I am polite but I am not polish, if I was working with Polyend I would work with them to have them reissue the Medusa in a mini form factor. I would kill for a Medusa Mini…
That is funny because I went out of my way to say that there were units well built. To reassure people I guess. I didnt really need to in all fairness. But I knew that there were questionable units, so when I went to my retailer of choice, I opened the package in front of them, before I paid, didnt want to go through the hassle of returning the product…
I was in no means hostile, I am sorry if anybody felt as such… but most of the times my word is taken for what it is, I dont have to justify it with pictures…
Asking for pictures is not in any way the same as calling the veracity of your word into question.
All good my man, lets all cross the vibration barrier waiting for angelic reinforcements…
Nice one :0)
Let me throw my hat in the ring. On a whim, I saw a retailer on Reverb had it in stock,so I “push the button” (a little foreshadowing). So, when I got the unit,I checked out to make sure it didn’t have a battery hump or the seams out of line. Looks good, then I went to turn it on. I had to push it down into the machine. Then I realized that the button sit deep in casing, not flush. All I can think about, down the line, I was going have to use a pen or something to turn it on.
Now ,I like the mini, and I got the tracker and the play. And I’m going to get again down the line. But I had to return it. I can’t see me spend 700+ for a unit that I had ship back and take my chance on a replacement.
Thanks for sharing and sorry to see this. I’m sure you would much rather shared your one was issue free.
The way I am reading your screenshot, I believe they are more worried about it powering on and draining the battery while in a bag/etc.
I dont have a horse in the race, but seems yall clinging to straws a bit with the QC accusations. Not saying that peeps complaints are not valid., but seems like when youre having a bad start to the morning, and things that normally dont trigger you start to make your skin crawl, snowballing into hatred.
Fair point. Still think a software solution would have been better though. Long press for on, short press gets ignored.
No hatred, I’m invested ( I even bought the Medusa) but I was expecting similar build like the tracker and the play.
100 % valid.
This was not directed towards you at all, overall just an observation on the entire community, and a little towards the post i replied too. Mainly the hyperbole of the context in @Zijnvolt post, that gives me the general feel that peeps love to hate these products.
A lot of people i respect within the forum share disdain for them, so i can see both sides. however, it seems a little internet pitch forky mob mentality to me at times.
There is a similar comment on the Polyend Backstage Forum and Polyend replied saying it should be like that and not flush with the top in case of accidental turn-on’s. Although how that would be possible when inside the dedicated case is a little unbelievable.
…
It’s worth popping onto the forum and posting this photo though just for other users to compare theirs to.
Looks great, thanks for sharing:)
Can only speak for myself and my motivation for being on alert in regards to Polyend.
I’ll start off by saying I enjoy working with the Tracker and I think it’s a very powerful tool to have. I’m happy they were able to bring trackers into this day and age(although I was already a hardcore Nerdseq user before and still am).
I got my Tracker from the very first batch in may 2020 and started working on tracks and live sets with it. One immediately obvious fault was the loud click/pop on the audio output(I believe this was fixed in a hardware revision) that occurs when you turn it on and off.
This loud click/pop coming from the audio out is not good for your ears at all and I think when wearing headphones could potentially lead to hearing damage(I’m not stating this as a fact, simply speculation).
The problem with the click is that is was at the time said that “it was normal” (a common sentence Polyend uses when users report faults).
However, once a new revision came out, the loud click was not present on the revised units. All good ofc, but not once did they offer early adopters to send their MK1 unit in for fixing what was obviously a fault with the units. A bit lame.
My second hardware issue was the jogwheel. It went bad really fast and luckily I was able to get it replaced by Polyend(this one is also faulty now.). I appreciate they fixed it, no issue whatsoever. However, with the jogwheel encoder now also dying it’s not giving a very future proof expectation.
That’s all for the hardware, for the sake of not taking up too much of your time I won’t go into the early firmwares that were extremely buggy and even once messed up one of my live shows.
All in all my problem is personal due to the fact that I spent money on their product that ended up having unresolved issues. I feel like me and many others paid to beta test the hardware and firmware when we bought the Tracker back in 2020. Especially when you read that when Polyend announced the Tracker Mini, they said it was the device they intended to make from the start.
So thanks Polyend for letting me pay to betatest your hard and software. Fool me once, etc
