That’s just how youtube works and has more to do with the channel than this youtuber. It’s widespread knowledge that showing your face and showing the device you’re discussing will lead to more engagement. He’s presumably doing this for the engagement and comments, just like we are here.
I view it as amusingly underhand/desperate, you don’t. Not really a big deal.
I’m looking forward to videos from folks who physically have the device to play with though.
He refers to the product as released. It’s not released. Way more clickbait than it is bringing anything new to the discussion.
On OG Tracker, you can be very quick in performance mode. On the mini, it seems way more slower and you can’t tweak multiple parameters at the same time.
If you have to get a midi controller to get the full potential of the performance mode on the mini, it’s quite disappointing for a mini, standalone & portable device…
I think it’s the compromise for portability. Take it everywhere. Want to have more controls plug MIDI in? At least that’s how I look at it. The only pause for me is if those controls are accessible over MIDI on the Mini.
I disagree, but that’s OK. I think it’s just the way YouTube works, it’s more of the norm than anything else. You want to attract people to the discussion. I participated in the comment section of the video because the topic interests me. Would the algorithm have served me this video if he didn’t get a few clicks before it was served to my feed? Maybe not.
For me I clicked his video because I mistakenly thought he had a real unit and got a couple of minutes into the video before realising he didn’t and then felt my time was wasted and closed the video.
That to me is clickbait.
same
especially considering if one is performing live, theyre probably roped to an audio system anyways so at that point portability isnt the top priority. i agree with you, i think this performance mode implementation is just fine
I’m excited about the shortcuts on the front. Such a great UX. Being able to jump anywhere with one button press and choose the destination myself will allow me to shape navigation for my needs.
I wonder what those keys are like. Originally, I thought they might be rubbery like a calculator, but they look more like game control plastic buttons.
Another great Isobutane video https://youtu.be/cDp-ebRrpHU
the Mini with the op-z is the way I wanna go. Or if it did multi-samples then Roland’s J-6 might also be cool.
I have a pre order in. Probably doesn’t make the sale of my original Tracker look any better . I love the workflow and I think the size of the mini is perfect. I didn’t get on with the M8 because of the lack of dedicated controls.
I have to say, some of the demos sound really good. The onboard output of this is pretty impressive.
Look carefully, without GAS-colored glasses: he’s not playing it, @circuitghost, he’s pressing play and playing the pedal.
Trackers are inherently programmy devices. You like to play.
I loved my Tracker, but this version has even fewer playable/performative elements.
Yeah, I read and listen to basically everything you post @circuitghost and the PT seems like the sampler that is possibly least suited to your workflow and preferences.
I wanted to say, I don’t see much of a point of buying a device largely marketed around its portability just to plop it down on a desk and connect it to pedals. Might as well get the desktop in that use case. Don’t want to contribute to the “negativity” though! Different people observe different things. Still waiting for someone to review this thing proper.
I wonder when we’ll see actual reviews. I’m in no way swayed by finished tracks without seeing the whole sampling, sample editing etc. It seemingly looks like nothing has been changed at all in regards to this.
I think I love you guys @alspacka @papertiger
