personally I don’t think the price point is really the issue, I think if they build it people will buy it, would people buy a M8 if it could do everything an sp404 could do for a higher price… absolutely… I think this is what Teenage Engineering understands that a lot of pundits don’t, and they still undercut on the features side of things.
The Polyend Play Delay and Reverb are lush and have a lot of bounce. I do think many that are commenting on the effects/filters haven’t dove deep into sound shaping. The Tracker has multiple layers of manipulating samples.
- Sample the sound you want and manipulate the sample externally.
- Use the somewhat limited effects in the sample editor to manipulate the sample. I imagine with the improved RAM and processor we will get some more options here in the Mini. Hopefully the desktop tracker gets the CPU updates.
- Use different playback options to manipulate how a sample sounds. Some of the best slicing controls I’ve ever used.
- Use multiple lanes of automation on the sample to edit the sample instrument.
- Manipulate the automation for the sample or other FX per step in the Tracker on two FX.
5 Apply global master effects like Reverb, Delay, etc. - Render out an individual track or multiple tracks and immediately make it an instrument. This lets you layer on automation, FX, master FX as you go. Then you can take the new sample and layer more on.
I’ve done it a few times. It’s awkward to pull out on a plane, but fantastic in a hotel room. Hasn’t gotten dinged up yet - I just use masking tape to hold the deck saver on top of it, wrap it in some shirts and it’s good to go.
Yeah I’m sure it can be done but I just don’t see that happening for me. Whereas a handheld little devil would be much more likely for me to want to throw in the backpack. Writing this from a hotel room in Amsterdam. Maybe I just need to use the DAW instead.
Just a heads up on this video.
He hasn’t actually tried one so it’s just a review of information you would already have if you had read this thread.
Yep! Wasted my time because I didn’t notice the crummy photoshop in the thumbnail.
Ah! “Content” for the sake of content
can’t believe folk stoop to these levels for views!
Thanks but it’s his perspective that was the draw for me, and his cuckoo’s cousin vibes🙂
He wasn’t really trying to fool anyone, check out his videos on the oh tracker and you’ll see why I was interested in his thoughts
I like his videos but I thought that was a bit of a click bait trick.
Maybe a little cheesy but I don’t think he was trying to gaffle us
I’m feeling pretty gaffled here!
I can’t believe why some people look at it that way. Posting your thoughts on a not-yet-released synth is ok in a text forum, but if someone posts their thoughts with more fidelity in a video, it’s considered stooping to a certain level for views? How about we’re part of the same community instead?
Far out navigating performance mode without the pads and jog wheel looks unpleasant
Did you miss the thumbnail?
No I saw it.
So yeah, the aforementioned stooping(/gaffling?) was not in regard to somebody sharing their thoughts on a device almost nobody has actually handled yet, but implying with a photoshopped thumbnail that they actually have a unit in-hand to comment on.
Didn’t seem that bad. It’s just different. To me I can see just plugging the Mini into a midi control to get some of the desktop functionality back.
