Polyend Tracker Mini

Can you lock to a specific key/scale?

You should be able to since it’s the same OS as the OG Tracker.

This guy and the smpltrek guy need to battle.

The OG tracker lasts stupid long (longer than 8 hours) on a very slim power bank. I also carry a small lapel mic in my Tracker pack. Having a built in mic doesn’t do much for me.

As a big fan of the OG tracker, this was kind of a confusing move overall.

I seriously cannot justify the price though. I can get a used surface or something for that price and install famitracker / milky tracker etc.

or even Ableton.

Did we have this in here already?
Terrible track but nice jacket. :slightly_smiling_face:

Comparing this kind of gear to a computer is always a weird exercise. This is still a niche piece of electronics made by a small company on a small scale. All music gear is overpriced compared to regular computers. You think any of the Elektron stuff is running high end processors?

I think the price is fine, I don’t care for the form factor and this campaign that basically makes it sound like the original tracker is garbage that won’t be fixed lol.

Thanks. Doesn’t the og tracker just lock the pads to a scale? I wonder how that would work without pads here.

Yeah the price is totally fine. I feel like there is an unreasonable expectation for what is such a small and niche market.

Think how many bags of Cheetos I could buy tho.

I imagine capturing it in two hands would be awkward.

That’s an interesting idea. I wonder if that would be possible with firmware updates?

Without a USB host port it’d be impossible, unless there’s a game controller out there with MIDI out!

What’s the campaign that says the OG is garbage? Did I miss something?

Switch to Kettle corn it’s cheaper and you can get more!

I think it’s justified that this is receiving a lot of criticism, especially considering there is another hardware tracker on the market with more features, better ergonomics, constantly active customer support/updates etc. Polyend could have done a lot better. Even focusing only on UI design/ergonomics, it looks like there was a clear lack of research.

Large scale consumer electronics and things like free shipping from many large retails have screwed customer expectations. And people also seem to forget that we are still in a chip shortage and inflation affects every company as well…

Comparing a brand new niche device to a used mass produced computer like a surface or iPad is silly though. Those things are almost worthless after two years. Music tech usually holds most of its value and sometimes appreciates over time. They are just two completely different things (like Cheetos!).

I think it’s fair in terms of trackers though. Fast Tracker 2 was capable of up to 32 tracks back in 1996, on a 486. Practically any laptop produced in the past 10 years can run a tracker; if not Renoise, then something at least equivalent to Polyend’s trackers. And in the case of not using Renoise, the minimum specs are even more broad.

I think it’s a fair alternative, but something not many people consider.

It probably limits you to the notes of the selected Scale you can enter on the Step.

I don’t understand why people feel compelled to make excuses for this product/company. Are you affiliated? Their other products are awesome imo, but this was a huge swing and a miss
