My kind of photography!
That’s a lens I would love to try out! I think it would be awesome for pets.
The 135mm from Sony is an absolute gem! I did try the Samyang 135 but the colours and contrast felt wrong to me, nice n sharp but not right.
Well maybe but at the same time Sigma released last year a 28-45/f1.8 zoom and with current sensors, everything is good to learn to milk everything you want out of a picture; be it on camera or in your computer later.
Regarding the LUMIX 100/2.8, I got it via an in-law visiting Japan at the time for 650 EUR which is dirt cheap regarding current price in Europe or second hand. I also learned that while L-mount does have fantastic lenses in the ecosystem, it is clear way less popular than the Canon, Nikon, Sony and Fuji ecosystem. For example, during my visit in Taiwan right now I barely found 4-5 lenses for L-mount in all the shops I visited vs hundreds in new or second hand shops. Sure you can grab an adapter, but it is something to keep in mind.
Unless for macro, your 85/1.8 is accepted as being a superb lens already so have fun ! At the time, besides the good price, I want for the 100 mostly because I needed a lens able to scan my negative film rolls I still need to buy the Valoi system to covert my needs for 120 and 35 films but getting there.
Have fun, you already have a fantastic set in your hands !
Yeah, it looks awesome. The A7SIII + 135gm combo must be awesome for consert photography.
I mostly use the Sony 70-200f4 with my A7iii. It works, but sometimes i would like to use a little lower ISO.
Yes the A7SIII is a stunning night time camera. All those shots were at the second base ISO of 1600 which seems to produce a really nice night time result, maintaining decent fast shutter speed and paired with the 135mm at f1.8 and super sharp, I really like the results.
I have an A74 as well but I still prefer the A7SIII and 12 megapixels has not been an issue at all when using it.
Id really like a nice 70-200 but committed to that 135mm.
I love the A7III - thats a great camera.
I’ve been thinking of the A74 as well. But cant defend the upgrade. I feel like i get alot of keepers with the A73’s autofocus. Even when fast dogs are running directly at the camera. Specially since i dont make any money on this, its not vital to get 100% keepers. hehe.
I like the old 70-200 F4. Even if it doesnt have the best reputation. Long term plan is to exchange it for the 135gm and 200-600. hehe
A7V look to be on the horizon, id stick with that A7III and look towards an eventual upgrade to A75 if it performs well.
I mainly use my A74 for portraits and weddings where its nice to have the added resolution. But anything low light, and I’m A7SIII and not worried at all.
I posted it already in another thread but maybe some people here enjoy photo editing as much as I do:
Any other Darktable users in here? I much prefer it over Lightroom by now…
I tried ON1 but I am still not really convinced (and they already asking me to pay for their upgrade). I was either thinking to go back to FOSS DarkTable or DxO. My main usage is around denoising, reframing and twisting colors (quite basic).
And I am also exploring which tools/software to use because I plan to begin to scan my negative at home too.
Darktable is awesome! Yes, it is a bit overwhelming and confusing at first but it doesn’t dictate your workflow. In the video, I’m also only doing basic things and there are tons of options but it works for me. It’s also not too bad at denoising.
You need to find the right modules for your needs but then it’s easy to tame
Great imagery. I’ve really considered a Ricoh GR II or III but I’m long sighted so it would be a complete nightmare to use!
Please excuse the continued excitement, but I found a great used deal and added the 100/f2.8 macro lens.
I’m just having fun at the moment, nothing I’m proud of, but again, I’m just super excited.
In the photo below, I don’t think I ever noticed the audio parasites black plate had Make Music instead of Make Noise.
I shouldn’t need a macro lens to notice that, I’ll say I was too busy making strange sounds.
The streets in my neighbourhood look so much like typical European streets, imho. Especially these streets here in spring. Took the pics with my phone which has this irresistible monochrome lense…
(Notice the rare opportunity to park your car in the first pic)
And we have some nice flowers growing.
Edit: Typo
Well done and nice lighting on the shot!
The 100/2.8 is a good jack of all trade on top of a macro lens for me.
I just don’t know what lens to get to keep company to this lens
Thank you! Found a great deal on the used one, but I can’t get it to focus on anything except in a macro setting.
Still could be user error, but I may contact Panasonic or where I purchased from (MPB) if I can’t fix it.
Macro lenses usually have a switch on the side that lets you choose close or far focus range, if you have it on macro it won’t focus further than ~0.5m.
