Oxi One Hardware Sequencer

If you set it to 65 steps, does it change to 64 steps when you do the same thing?

I imagine it would tbh. It seemed like whatever the length of the sequence was, pulse 1 would automatically get adjusted to sequence length - 1.

I’ll check tonight when I’m at home.

I was able to test and there seems to be a bigger issue than just the euc pulse 1. I can set the sequence to 65 steps. I see the purple bar on correct step. If I press the End button, I see 1-65.

If I now press the GEN button to alter the euc pulse or make any adjustments, the sequences length is reverted to 64 automatically.

Really strange. I have 2 projects this is happening with.

UPDATE: After messing around with the one some more, I believe the euclidean generator might only go to 64 steps.

I have only had the device for a few weeks and am still learning my way around.

Is the only solution to load the grooves via the app?

I can import multiple grooves (>20) via the app. This is very slow because there is no batch import.

When I import the Ableton grooves .mid files via the app, they appear as .txt files on the SD card. When I want to import the .mid files from the SD card into the groove folder, the .mid files do not appear on the OXI. (2.2.0)

So let me save you some time before you export any more ableton grooves… You can only import 8 custom grooves onto the device and I don’t think this has changed with the latest firmware.

Importing more than 8 grooves has been highly requested but seems to be more complicated to impliment then meets the eye.

I had issues importing grooves from app to device and the work around was importing the grooves via the SD card. I don’t know if that’s faster or not but if you run into the same issue, that’s a solution.

I wasn’t aware you could load grooves from the SD, how does that work? I’ve got the entire ableton library exported but find it to be a chore to test them.

FYI for those of you waiting for it… Decksaver for the Oxi One Mk2 just released: https://www.decksaver.com/product/oxi-one-mk2-cover/

I want the OXI II to follow external MIDI Clock when its Sync mode is set to MIDI, but to run independently when set to INTERNAL. This used to work, but now OXI just switches to MIDI when receiving a MIDI Clock, even when set to INTERNAL. The only way to prevent that is setting it’s Sync mode to USB.

Did anyone else notice that? Is this a kind of (undocumented) Auto Sync – or just a bug?

If you’re thinking of loading a bunch of ableton grooves onto the sd card and then manually selecting and importing 8 of them, I don’t think that’s how it works. If I remember correctly, you simply drag the 8 grooves you want into the sd card’s grooves folder and they should appear right after the 14 factory grooves.

It mentions protecting when in a gig bag, hope it fits inside the actual OXi One case. I like the idea of having the decksaver for in the studio and transporting for extra protection but the case that comes with it is really nice.

I’d be surprised if the Oxi+Decksaver fits inside the black hard case that comes with an Oxi One Mk2. It’s a pretty snug fit inside the hard case. But I’ll know more when my Decksaver arrives, I bought it within a few seconds of the notification email from Decksaver appearing in my inbox, so should be with me soon.

Yeah thats what i’m thinking. I’ll probably get it too for the studio anyway. Cheers

How can I have an inactive step with any other step duration than 1 in Saga mode ? I can’t get this to work (2.2.0 and 2.2.1)
I only get a note with a different length. Alec Sea is doing this @11.58min

EDIT Solution

In Saga I can place an empty step/rest with no note trigger and any other time division than 1.
manual p51

In config^workflow there are settings to remember the par changes for a step when deactivated and restore them back when reactivated^^ this has to be set to ON.
Placing a note with trig prob 0% also works.

Is there a comprehensive list of whats available for MK2 that isn’t available on the mk1, aside from the hardware/screen/buttons? I know there is no accumulator, but anything else?

Thank you!

Sorry but this is so wrong xd

Ambitious getting AI to recommend a sequencer !!!

Anyway - mine is yet to arrive - OXI MKII - were there any details about how tight they are ???

Curious if any details out there ?

I have to shake my head at the fact that post was flagged. It was very helpful as it DIDNT try to recommend a sequencer, it just broke down feature comparisons between the group. Not all AI is evil, and people should learn to use it for what they can because they will be in the Stone Age if they don’t pretty soon. I say that as someone who isn’t a huge fan, but recognizes there are very useful use cases, and that it will be impossible to keep up in the future without being able to use it.

Are you planning on using the oxi to sequence your MPC? I’ve started scratching the surface of this and the oxi has a bit of a learning curve, but it’s been fun so far!

Yeah, pretty ridiculous.

I just won’t comment the next time and the board will be poorer for it.
