I can enter notes and do everything, but no midi output.
Basically I can make a mono sequence and it works, convert it to a poly, doesnt work.
I didn’t try a new project, it was late night an I thought it was an user error, some hidden setting, etc
I suggested to OXI Instruments to consider going back to a traditional forum, but they told me they will stick with Discord because most users prefer it and because many companies are moving in that direction (???)
Personally, I find it hard to see Discord as a real replacement for a forum. It is great for quick chat and announcements, but very weak when it comes to finding information over time, everything gets lost in the flow.
I don’t like Discord as a tech support channel though. Impossible to find information and I’m not keen on a company ‘crowd sourcing’ its support. There isn’t any way to build a searchable knowledge base using a chat/messaging system. It’s just the wrong tool for the job.
I had (have?) the same Poly bug as you. I’ve just got the Oxi last week and thaught I was doing something wrong, until I had the idea of downgrading the firmware. Googling didn’t bring up anything and I really did not have the energy to login to even another Discord server, where I’d have to search through conversation structures I don’t know.
You mentioning this issue is actually the first sign of anyone I’ve read that I was not alone with the problem.
I really like the Oxi so far, but for sure it was not the best start with it. I am generally pretty forgiving and positive minded about such stuff with small companies, so I’m not really angry about it - but a bit irritated.
Moving forums (public, searchable, indexable) to some closed down commercial product feels like a terrible and hostile idea to me though, while I see the work it needs to maintain a healthy forum.
It seems the bug has hopefully been fixed with the new firmware update, although I have not tested it personally yet.
Since I find Discord absolutely inadequate for dealing with this kind of issue, I contacted support directly. To be fair, they reply quite quickly. Unfortunately, I believe the technician was not aware of the bug and asked me to run some tests, which I did not do because I neither have the time nor the willingness to debug products I bought at full price.
I also expressed my concerns about Discord, but support insists it is the best platform. The ironic part is that, while struggling to use Discord, I eventually discovered that this bug had already been reported there, but apparently he does not use it.
It probably takes effort to maintain a forum (and Discord as well), but it significantly reduces the number of direct support emails over time, so I believe it is ultimately a beneficial choice for a company.
There’s single-sign-on for exactly this purpose. Login with Google, Fecebook, Apple, Reddit and heck even Discord. Use a browser window with tabs for each forum aka “server” or the official Discourse app for Discourse based forums like Elektronauts.
100%, it;'s kinda trash and also very very poor security. I won’t go into detail but it’s not difficult for someone to download the entire content of a Discord server. I really don’t like it compared to forums and so I avoid many otherwise interesting communities.
With all the things that are wrong with Discord, this is none of them. We’re wishing here that vendors should use public forums instead. Downloading data from there is even easier and even desirable so that the knowledge is accessible for everyone with a browser and search engines. Aside from that, Discord never gave any promise regarding privacy. Everything is completely unencrypted and accessible by them.
