I’m using the OXI One MKII to sequence Ableton Live with no clips in Ableton – everything is driven directly from the OXI. I have 8 MIDI tracks, each with an Instrument Rack containing multiple instruments that I select via a mod lane on each sequencer track.
Issue: The saved state of these mod lanes changes randomly/erratically after saving patterns and reloading. No LFOs are modulating them, CC2 is off, mod max/min are set correctly, random is at 0, smooth at 0, offset at 0, linked is off. No MIDI conflicts either.
I’ve tried troubleshooting extensively but can’t pinpoint the cause. Factory reset, firmware update, project reloads – nothing works consistently. Has anyone experienced mod lane parameters shifting positions despite proper saves? Any insights or workarounds?
Setup details:
OXI One MKII last firmwae
Ableton Live 12.3
8 MIDI tracks with Instrument Racks
Mod lane assigned to program change/bank select for instrument switching
I’ve not seen or heard of this but I’m up for helping debug. It sounds like a frustrating one.
Just to boil it down, if I were to recreate this on my Oxi, what would be the simplest steps to do so? I don’t have Ableton but I think that should be fine. I just want to verify if it’s software or hardware first.
Also, when you say the mod lane values are changing after reload, is it in values of 1 or 2, or a larger range? Is it a one time change after reload, or does it keep happening?
Thank you for your help ! Yaaaaas, it’s starting to get complicated. I forgot to mention that I build my live set in the Arranger section once the patterns are ready, and this happens when switching from one track to another. It also occurs when switching from one pattern to another outside the sequencer.
These are often small values, similar to the “jumps” I make from one instrument to another, but not always. This can even happen after I’ve manually reset the lane to the correct value, right in the middle of a pattern.
Honestly, I can’t discern any pattern in the malfunction (that occurs in a specific playing context), but I notice it seems more intense in Arranger mode (which I always make sure to enable).
Just in case, you should plug in oxi app and check FW to see if they’ve released an update. there has been one in the last few days and I’m not sure if that’s what you are using or not.
It sounds like the Ableton part of this is irrelevant. Maybe you could run a MIDI logger/recorder ont he computer and capture the exact values its sending and how they’re changing?
Anyone know why I am unable to play(hear) my OT slices chromatically while playing Oxi keyboard during live record mode? The sequencer lays down the recorded hits but doesn’t play them back. When the sequencer is stopped I can play the slices chromatically. I’m in multitrack mode and the midi channels are 1-8 accordingly for each track. I’m lost for weeks now.
I noticed in the track type, there are what it seems two new track types, something like trig and stag ???
I have no time to experiment, somebody know what’s going on?
Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been really busy with work lately! I don’t think I’m very experienced with this kind of task (understanding a MIDI conflict in Ableton), but I did a test this morning with MIDI Monitor. Beforehand, I readjusted the values of the lane that selects my instrument chains and unplugged my other controllers, but it changes nothing. The “control___Controller 35” line should follow a logical progression of 0/3/5/7/9, but as you can see, it’s living its own life.

Tonverk allows multitrack sequencing, but all tracks share the same pattern length internally.
Does anyone know if Tonverk’s multitrack engine can be sequenced via external sequencer (OXI One MKII)?
If the tracks respond to separate MIDI channels, an external sequencer with independent track lengths could potentially bypass the internal length limitation.
Has anyone tried this? Any MIDI or internal sequencer conflicts?
Now the Oxi One mk2 can be used as a DAW controller for Bitwig and Reaper. I was waiting for it. My plan is to us this Moss extension for the Oxi in combination with the Roto controller. The Oxi as controller handles well the transport, track/mixer navigation, and the clip launcher. The Roto is dedicated to the devices’ parameters, where it excels. This saves me quite some mode jumping in the Roto controller.
What are your thoughts about using the oxi one with an elektron device? Are people inputting the notes into the oxi to trigger the sounds on elektron or are people just clock sync the device but programming in the elektron to make use of p locks, sound locks etc?
Just want to learn some workflow ideas as im new to the oxi and i have a digitakt that i haven’t learnt to fully take advantage yet. I come from the mpc world
New performance feature looks very nice. Also, these videos by Oora are finally starting to make some sense into all the thousand feature this sequencer has to offer.
Makes me feel like I really should be digging more into the melodic side of things with this sequencer.
I’ve come to terms with the fact that it seems impossible to sync midi PC with Elektron using Oxi One as master. Just using one Elektron pattern as sound engines isn’t ideal, but also not too shabby as you can still do a lot without entirely different patterns. So just be prepared for that mentally if you take the plunge.
People talk about fixing it with Blokas left and right but I haven’t seen any document doing it successfully with no issues.
